« on: August 04, 2006, 03:23:58 pm »
I'm working on negotiating a 1year license on 3d Max .. who has the "best"  (simplest for the old man to understand) in 3-d mapping

The one by Noah wallace, Dont know where it would be found at, As I got it when it first came out and printed it out so I could keep it.

I got to go to work right know but give me a while and Ill see if I still got it on my hard drive somewhere. And Ill email it too you.

But be aware the plug ins dont work on max 6 and above, it's one of the reasons I never upgraded from max 4, that and I could not afford too.

Thanks ...  I appreciate that.  For now I'm not worried about all of the plug-ins.  As long as we can import 3-ds files (or some variant that wings exports), and get info on "How to" lay out a map for texturing.  I prefer textures that do not "stretch" over the model as this tends to distort.

Having never looked at the hands on experience of mapping that's about all I can tell ya.  Until now someone has provided a map for me ..  then we do the textures.  I have as many as 6 ships now that are ready for textures (models that I have done on my own).   Looks like it's about time for me to take the next step in modeling.

I made a rather large involved tutorial on texture mapping (I think it has some of Noah's tutorial in it with permission)  It was released as an Adobe PDF file.  Something like 5 or 8 megs.  Couldn't find it right off though I know I still should have a copy someplace.  PM me and I will send you a zip of the file when I find it.

I found the file and with the extra items for working the tutorial and the plugins, it zips at just over 4 meg.  I can send it if you PM me.

I appreciate all the help we can get.  Looks like this will take a while to learn (let alone master).

Thanks in advance buddy !
