Ternado's Idea for area disengagment of capital ships
« on: August 01, 2006, 09:39:50 pm »
Ternado spoke to me of an idea that makes a lot of sense. All ships up to CCH would follow the standard disengage rule which is 30 minutes for the hex u died in or 1 hr if you disengaged. But BC's would be banned in that hex and those adjacent, DN's 2 adjacent hexes and BB's 3.

This imo would encourage players to gang up and kill these bigger ships as it would knock them out of a fairly large area. Realistically speaking, this makes much sense, because larger capital ships are spread out on the front lines and losing one would mean that entire area would be without one for a while. Any comments on this idea?

Sounds like a good idea

~ With the caveat that (same as the multi-hex disengagement proposed by t00l) that it will
possibly become a bit of a pain to keep track of empty space hex 19,19 and the 6 hexes surrounding that, the 12 around that
the 24(?) around that for multiple ships

Just use your whiteout or permanent marker on the screen and color in the hexes, hexx. Cmon.

I don't want to rehash a public discussion about the DR right before we launch a major campaign.

I really like this idea.

Me too

However I would qualify it a bit so that being run off when outnumbered by enemy pilots would have only the normal penalty, an equal numbered loss should be paid in full however.  I say this because you don't want to penalize a defender trying to hold off multiple foes by himself.

I have already stated my views in the RM forums.
*I am forced to agree with my esteemed colleague*
This probably should have been presented there first.
And I think the RM forums should be for all RM, not just the SCCs, if it's not that way already, of course.

It cant work for SG6 beacuse when a capital ship is lost, that side also loses max iron points for a period of time... The two methods cant coexist. Ternados rule can somewhat replace the P+P Vc's in a way... Again, this isnt for SG6.
