Slave Girls of Orion VI Winners poll.
« on: July 23, 2006, 01:24:08 am »
Here ae the current VC conditions for SGO6.

Map and PvP VC’s

    - An original enemy planet must be controlled and have a LoS to a friendly HW. You get one
Victory Point for matching an enemy planet with one of a disimilar race. Terraformed planets (if used) and those located in the neutral zone do not count towards VC's.

- If attrition (PvP points) equals or exceeds one and a half times as many more than your enemy you count it as a Planet for purposes of the Map VC's listed above applied toward the specific race that suffered the highest attrition points and if it equals or exceeds twice as many, you count it as another Planet to apply toward the specific race that suffered the second highest attrition points.

- All your empires must have a LoS at least one hex wide at the end of each VC round. If you cut off an enemy race's LoS to their ally, you count it as a Planet for purposes of the Map VC's listed above applied toward that race.

- There will be 3x Map VC periods, one at the end of each week from the time the server started.

- Total points are tallied and the difference is used below to determine the winner.
5 VC Points = Total Victory - The losers are wiped from the face of the Galaxy so completely that there is no trace left of their civilization and eventually even their very existence will be forgotten entirely and no one will remember them. The winners go on to dominate the universe.
4 VC Points = Decisive Victory - Driven to the brink of extinction, the surviving losers scatter throughout the galaxy vowing to one day seek revenge while their conquerers plunder and desecrate their lands and homeworlds that were left behind.
3 VC Points = Major Victory - The victors conquer considerable enemy territory and subjugate and enslave countless millions while the losers are left devestated both economically and militarily wondering how long their shaky future will last.
2 VC Points = Minor Voctory - The victors, unable to deliver a knock-out blow and capitalize on their many advantages despite solid gains in territory and ships, leave the losers able to pick up the pieces and possibly threaten them again in the not so distant future.
1 VC Point  = Tactical Victory - After an exhausting war, the victors take comfort in knowing they have bragging rights for edging their enemy in economic and military might leaving the quadrant ripe for another general war ready to break out at any moment.[/list]

Where's the option for "Who cares, as long as everyone gets along and has fun"?

While I don't question your sincerity, that option isn't realistic, it's usually just diplomatic spin. I've seen and heard this kind of comment from others who then pull do allnighters and nutter like hell and at the servers end talk about how sleep deprived they are and so on. No matter what's said , reality is that it's all about winning. Otherwise, why keep score?

I think "Who cares as long as I can tow Dizzy into a 'roid" is a better option.

Not necessarily all about winning, but achieving goals is definately a part of the fun.  Winning is just one goal not necessarily the ultimate one.

Read my sig line..... it's about fun.

I still have fun playing this game because I still find it fun to play or I wouldn't bother.
Getting on in the mornings and chatting with Deadman, Father Ted, C-Los, Chuut, Soreyes, and whover else is fun.  Trying to thwart Lord Krueg and his excellent minions is fun (though trying because his leadership is so damned good  ;) )

In fact, the campaigns I have had the most fun on, were also ones my side lost.

Sadist!!! U have the most fun when you're getting the crap beat out of you, haha.

For me, it's simple... There was the 1st or 2nd GW server where most of the alliance had left mid week thru the last week pretty much leaving me and just a cpl die hard defenders to save Mirak space from being over run. I had a blast. All those coalition girl scouts... I ate them alive. The way I see it, the more targets the better for me and with no competition, I was in sfc dreamland. Only reason I care about balanced servers is for you guys. I actually dont like sharing my targets.

Some of my best times, and most fun have also been when I lost.  I guess it can be how you handle the loss, do you have the ability to turn it into something fun.

Some folks do not have fun if they do not win, others can.

Awards in our camapaigns end of game awards goto folks who

- Role played the best

- First timers who held there own in a game.

- Best Political manipulator ,.. etc

Winning is just one aspect of it, and I would say not the most important.  The single most important is if you have fun, it is All about having fun.  It would be a shame if you only have fun if you win.  You would lose out on soo much more, that or you better win an awfull lot  :)

In the Pirate campaign I had no shot in hell of "winning", I guess I consider myself fortunate that I could have fun in it even knowing I could not "win".

Still the best server I ever played on was IDSL, and the Fed/Gorn Alliance technically lost, but it was still a blast.

Next best server was GW2. The early Sunday morning deepstrike from Hydran to Fed space was a riot, especially since I was the first one to break through.  :rwoot:

I haven't voted on this  yet, far to early to say. It really depends on how things turn out and who shows up. What I can say is, with the way the vote currently stands, I'm going to love this server. It will most definitely allow for my PvP fix and I bet I'm not alone.

Hell I just go out there and have some fun. I know Im going to get the Snot knocked out of me in PvP. But it is always fun to go Deep Striking in a DF, and a little while later finding a Few enemy CA's chashing me down. ;D
