Involved and definitely improving on himself.  Check it...

Those are definitely new and way, way, way better textures.

I still feel pretty skeptical about this game. I don't reckon that it's going to offer us anything new - just a rehash of what the communities have already achieved through modding themselves. Plus, as with all games really, in order for them to sell it to as many people as possible, the graphics won't be *that* superb so as not to restrict the release to people with higher end systems.

I wish a developer would make a game like Homeworld 2 for Star Trek. Armada 2 is the closest thing, but the engine sucks majorly compared with more modern game engines.

I'm no Sovereign fan, but I agree with you with no doubt.  The quality there is getting better and growing to be more appealing to me.

im not excited about it, on the contray When LEgacy somes out its either going to be 1 of 3 things:

1 A big hit giving us the game we have never had, saying that we have been promised that for a while never really works out how we want it, as we ll have our own ideas of what the best trek game would be like.

2. a marginal hit that will resort to major modding of the game for its continued exsistance (exactly the same as SFC3 and BC they are only kept alive by the mod teams)

3 Total faliure, with a very small fan base porting models from other games into it, the odd mod made for it here and there but nothing to keep it alive.

With the level of graphics we have in games nowa days its farly safe to assume that this one will be no exception as we can see its a very dynamic space combat game with added features like SFC2's wingmen, BC level of detail and effects, learning curve of SFC3,also huge scale combat as we know and love in armarda.

So yes they have pulled alot of things from the older games, which is good. Again with that said it could be terrible and the only thing that will save it is its graphical abilities.

I personaly Hate Legacy, i havent played it, but since news of the game has gotten out you hear all these doomsayers calling on the end of our communities, and how everyone is going to leave to go play with legacy, and with all the drama that happens in the communities has been doubled, its like a city at night witha full moon evreyone is getting stupid about this game, 2 types of people ones who think its going to be game of games for star trek and those that cant be bothered in it but are curious about it.

If the games turns out to be a total pile of hippo droppings then i wont be sorry.

If it turns out to be great then both the developers on this game will have my undivided worship for pulling something so big off.

Personaly i predict that its going to be different from what any of us here are used too. and its going to be fun to try out, even though im not fond of the game i have already placed an order with my local games outlet to send it me on day of release.

I predict number 2 will come true, dependant on how easy it is to mod.

Legacy is also going to get a good look over by ADB, the makers of Star Fleet Battles, and the system that SFC, and SFC 2 were based on.  If they feel that there licence has been infringed...you could expect a possible court battle.

Kana,

If you knew anything about Legacy, you would know that it is nothing like SFB, that being one of the SFC community's beefs with it.  Perhaps you are referring to Star Trek:Tactical Assault which is basically an SFC rip-off for PSP and the DS.

I just have to say... Everyone needs to Chill out!

Its a GAME

yes...

g-a-m-e.

Its always the same; Enterprise was bashed to hell and back and look what happened there.

I for one am very glad and feel privilidged that they are bothering with the brand of 'Trek' in games at all, and looking at the promos it doesn't look too bad, but that is something we will find out when it is released... only fools and biggots would lambast something they know little about eh.

Wait and see.

Oh, and...

Chill Out!!!

Harry Krishna and all that jazz.

I'm fairly sure both products will get a good looking at...and if either of them seem to infringe on any rights and trademarks, or whatever, I'm sure that ADB will work to protect their rights to the intellectal property of SFB, and in much part SFC.

Well Steve C might have a legal ground to stand on...and he does have a 'non-time' specific license agreement with Paramount on TOS era stuff...but come on they only have like 6 employees...and the do all their own packaging, in their 'warehouse'...so I don't see much problem from them unless you really started trying to sell something...it's Paramount you would really have to watch out for...

Kana

Why yes...I think you did...

Understand this....IF legacy or Tactical assualt rip off Steve in anyway...the bad PR generated by us alone would be too much to deal with...

We got Steve's back...

Now...since Steve has said he "may be" receptive to another licensing deal with a developer....why not try and help Steve make some more money by requesting that Bethesda allow Quicksilver make SFC4...

 ;)
