I recently have been working to increase the speed of of my dial up connection and one of the ways I have been TRYING to do this is filter out the noise in the phone line..now I can get a in noise filter (if a line noise filter does work) but I do have this DSL filter.. would a DSL filter help out my connection speed even though I am not on DSL(yet

Try it, I love DSL, don't fall for that cable is everything crap my friend, they are desperate for OUR business.

Well DSL filter in.. I do seem to get a SLIGHTLY better connection, but nothing like it used to be.. normaly I got connection at 54.3 Kbps.. but its dropped into the mid-30's kbps.. the DSL filter didnt help that much though...

You gotta have DSL on your line. I remember reading that DSL requires some kind of amplification box or some doohickey like that within 5 miles, although nowadays they have super DSL and things might have changed.

Did you post your question in engineering? We got a lot of smart chaps over there, and more than once they have helped me real quick.

Yea, and no box within 5 miles at all.. I wil go ahead and repost this in Engineering.. should have done that in the first place, but it was late at night when I posted it and.. well just didnt even see Engineering..
