Help Please! Music Lost in SFC1
« on: July 07, 2006, 02:01:58 am »
I had a HD crash, so I reinstalled SFC1.  It worked fine.  Then I reinstalled also the Chris Jones/Lansing/etc. old AGT system to switch mods/eras.

Now the background music does not play, though the special effects sounds (phasers, explosions, beeps) do come on when they're supposed to.

I do recall I had this problem a long time ago when I first fiddled with AGT, but I forgot what I did.

I would appreciate anyone who can help.

I believe it was just a matter of keep reinstalling...

Music failed = the music.zip file is corrupted. So try installing SFC1 to another location on the HD, then copy over the music.zip.

How if you are trying the mods, some of them might've changed the music. Perhaps you should reinstall the MUSIC PORTION of the mods from backup files and see.

Solid sounding advice, 3..

Unfortunately, I don't recall any music files in the mods; I sort of remember them depending on the native SFC 1 music.  But I will try the first idea (both if I actually do see music files in the mod files) and copy over the music file.

It's called "music.zip"?

And, thanks!

uhm. either sfcmusic.zip or music.zip...

It's a very large zip file. Just browse the installation directory for either folder or files with "music" word in it.

I don't have SFC1 on this computer any more. so I can't confirm... sorry.

Hey 3.!

You were 90% right- it's only a folder called "music" in the "sound" directory.  I copied it from a second temporary installation of SFC1 onto the primary HD (I keep SFC on the bigger secondary drive) and simply pasted it into the "sound" directory of the permanent installation.  And sure enough, the music works fine now.

Somehow the entire music directory got erased when I installed the mod.
