Go Iran! Kick Mexico's butt!
« on: June 11, 2006, 11:52:16 am »
Halftime in World Cup, Iran 1, Mexico 1.  ;D Hopefully Iran wins so Mexico can shout "Osama, Osama, Osama" at them like they did to us when we kicked their arses a few years back.

England? You Brits got very LUCKY yesterday. It's not often you get the other team making the goal FOR you!

Germany? Deustchland is Wunderbar! 4 points for in the first match!

Man, I bet the whole of Germany is rocking right now, not to mention all the foreign poonernanny running around right now!  ;D

A very disappointing performance by the USA v a very good Czech Republic team; Brazil last night didn't look anything special, despite the hype.

Re England, no one is more frustrated with that performance than me; once the goal went in so early I thought they were going to turn it on, but sadly, our manager is not the most attacking minded in the world.

So far though, I think it's been a very good World Cup; long may it continue to be so.

I agree overall its been a pretty good world cup so far.

I was very impressed with the Czech Republic, for me the best team i have seen in the competition so far, in particular Rosicky and Nedved were on top form, but the injury to Koller may pose a few problems if the Czech's progress to the later stages. There wasn’t much the USA could of done against that performance.

Also been impressed with some of the African teams in this world cup, the Ivory Coast were unlucky not to get a point based on the performance in the second half against Argentina.

England were I thought ok in the first half against Paraguay, second half they were absolutely terrible, we were extremely lucky that we weren't punished for our major drop in performance.

Brazil had a shaky game last night, Croatia i thought played well and if their finishing and final touch had been better they could of got a point last night.

Worst match i have seen so far was France vs Switzerland, absolutely terrible.

Apparently most of us dynaversers arent football(soccer)fans....only thread i could find on the world cup...

Do any of you out there know how to read this?  Like if the final score is shown as:

USA 1:1 Italy (0:0)

or

Brazil 2:0 Germany (2:0)

What do the numbers inside of the ( ) mean?  None of my friends nor me could figure it out

57 30 June 2006 Berlin  GER:ARG  1:1 a.e.t (1:1, 0:0) 4:2 PSO

1 to 1 in regular time, no goals scored in overtime hence 0-0 (They do not keep going or have "sudden death" like we do). This leaves the final option when the games keep going, the penalty shoot out, 5 kicks per team)

Germany scored 4, Argentina got 2, and that explains the 4:2 PSO. Argentina got sent home by Germany's scoring the most goals on the penalty shootout. Germany had 1 goal in regular game, and bagged 3 more during the penalty shootout. Argentina bagged 1 more before the Germans had numerical advantage in the penalty shootout and thus ended it once and for all.
