Milkshape problems
« on: June 27, 2006, 07:58:47 am »
I am having problems with milkshape. Evertime I try to save a mesh, the program crashes. Then I have to reboot my computer, in order to re start Milkshape. Is there anyone that could shed some light into this situation. I am using the latest version, but this situation also occurs with an older version.

Hint: more ships to come as soon as this is fixed.

Is it one particular mesh, or all meshes?

If it is one in particular, you may want to try exporting it into another format (LWO, 3DS, X, MOD, OBJ, MILKSHAPE ASCII), and then importing it. Sometimes a mesh gets so corrupted that unfortunately you have to start from scratch. I most often have this problem when manually creating faces off of an edge of the cylinder primitive.

If it is all meshes. Then try uninstalling, deleting the milkshape directory and then re-installing.

That is all I can think of, or at least fixes that I have attempted.

Check the Milkshape website for newer versions.  The author was aware of the crash issue and updated the program to fix it.

Try downloading the mesa dll files. This fixed the problem I had.

Based on what I read I would think that the downloading the mesa dll files was the fix, but that is unconfirmed..

I was able to save the files in another format without the program crashing, but it seems that the mesa.dll file was the finall solution. Again, thanks to all who responded to my call for help. ;D
