God I hate the Akula textures look nice and so do the rest of the ships  but I have never liked that ship even when I first saw it as a tos ship. Damn sure dont care for it as a tmp style either. But Ill Probably get the pack any hoo, if only to see how you made the textures.  :)

Very very nice indeed.  MP knows where to reach me if the both of you wish new registries.  Also, if I may make a suggestion.  Address the mapping on the aft portion of the warp engines.  The way they're mapped, the lightmaps don't illuminate the engine registries properly.  MP and I have discussed this before.  MP can address that mapping issue if you like.

The pen is truly mightier than the sword.  And considerably easier to write with.

nice. Just need to work on that tank, not up to par with the rest of the ship. Akula's make good fodder for brels anyways, something nice to shoot at  ;D

well it's about time.  :woot:

and the akula you did...don't really know if you could still call it that since it really is nothing like an akula other than the vertical nacelles.

Thanks folks that my own Akula design. I found the original design lacking so I made my own and DTW worked his magic on the textures  ;D. For you purists out there we did an original design one too so no worries.

the textures look good the most of the models are there in a dozen but the best is the interpretation of the Akula, the only thing i don't like on the Akula is the Miranda photonpod you should remove this fin or spoiler on the top of it, i doesn't make any sense on the Akulas photonbay  ;D 8) :o 8) :o

Very nice looking realistic metal textures, I love it.

But now that a metal texture has been added I have a question, arent the ships painted? Or are they actually bare metal? In the real star trek world that is. cannon so to speak.

I reckon I'll have a little time this week to finish up the touch ups, so they should be ready for release sometime within the next 7-10 days. BTW...They are REAL metal textures. I source for them, were pictures I took of sheets of steel, aluminum and titanium from the metal shop my buddy works at.

P.S. Models Please...I'll be on msn most of next week diuing work hours. Hope you're doing better.

You needto do the pod of the tug still by the looks of the pictures above
People always said they wanted the government to listen to them and now the government is listening, taking notes and names...and coming to see you soon!

Yeah, I also need to add some of the finer details to the plyons of the DN and tug as well as the secondary hull on the DN. The Miranda needs her color scheme touched up and I need to figure out how to make the hull plating pattern not look so "painted" on her. Other than that, a few minor adjustments to the meshes themselvs should about finish them off.

Only thing that might help is by doing it in several layers. Lay a darker foundation on the bottom one, than apply the metal look at a tranparency level with more of a brushed metal pattern only. It will be lighter on the edges and darker in the grid area. next add your saucer grid pattern again you will have to make it a little tranparent, then add just the darker lines of the grid as the top layer with a shinny layer just below it to offset one area of the saucer from the other. You will have to try it at differnet transparence for the layers yet the background one but once you make the layers that will all that is left. It will have some trial and error work there but it should work out.

:notworthy:  :notworthy: Wow these are really nice looking ships I cant wait to add them to the ship lists/model folders . .
More is always good  ;D

I do have a question though about the Akula:

How come the torpedo bay on this destroyer is usually depicted as so huge?  When you look at the Saladin above there is a nice slim torpedo bay, on the Connie there is a nice slim torpedo bay, on the DN . .  then the Akula has this enormous clunky torpedo bay . .  it works on the roll bar for the Reliant/Mirandas etc but to me it looks out of place on a sleek destroyer.

BUT that wont stop me from having them

 :notworthy: Great work :notworthy:

:'( makes me really wish I could figure out bashing atleast . . never mind textures .  .  :'(

Mostly would be scaling

The Destroyer is about half the size of a Heavy and about a third of a dreadnaught

I dunno..I kinda like the look of the chunky torp bay on the Akula. I saw a version with a slim bay and it made the ship look fragile. Aside from asthetics, I suppose I could paint some missle tubes on it to justify the added size.

This is one reason why I like SFC III.

I'll command my Akula with a bird-of-prey on each wing.    ;)
