That game looks fantastic! I wouldn't mind gettin' a copy once it's shed a few bucks off it's currently slated $60.00 price tag :)

I do hope your right, but I worry with the fore and aft weapons set up that it will result in a battle that has you going constantly in circles.  I notice in the actual game footage that is what the guy playing does too.

It makes me dizzy thinking about it.

Probably will buy it anyways.

Going in circles, sounds like the old Saber Dance or the Plasma Ballet. I have never been a fan of 3D movement for large ships because of the fly it like a fighter effect that they usually have. This however looks like they looks like a much better attempt. I will probably buy it anyways myself.

I am alright, it is the world that is wrong.

Here's the $64 question: "Will it have Kzinti, Gorn, Lyran, Hydran, or ISC?"

We can already assume it'll have Feds, Klinks and Roms, but what about the other folks? The reason I haven't abandoned the D2 yet is because there has been no replacement worthy of taking its place. What's Legacy got to offer?

No

It's based of of the Star Trek properties, not SFB
I believe it has Fed,Klink,Rom and Borg (AI)ships, and may have Ferengi ,Cardassian and Dominion as AI.

Eye candy and a nice distranction for a few weeks like every other video game.   It's tactical depth will be limited so I doubt it will keep out interests long but it will be fun for a few weeks like every other game

It'll prolly be worth picking up only for the models, but again they might make em so you can't import them or mod them into another game. I'll wait until it's been on a shelf for a few months and I can pick it up CHEAP.

Tachyon: The Fringe is a good game. But it only stayed on the shelves for a couple of months.

No marketing, didn't sell well, so people yanked it.

the lAST really good trek game (that i still play) besides OP (which i retired until i found pestilence's upgrade pack 6 months ago) was klingon academy. I was bored to tears with bridge commender after 3 weeks, but i still mod it even tho i dont play it, Armada about 4 weeks, and A2 about 2 months. I can't see spending another 60 bucks for a game i'll play for a month, then shelf it. If it's that good it'll be around the store shelves for a while then re-released in one of those budget games for 10 bucks next christmas. I just found MOO3 for 4 bucks last month at a computer show still new in the box.

Here's what I see missing in the Star Trek game suite:

  • Need a game with lots (ie. min. 100 plus) of challenging Quests for the single-players (ie. like SWG)
  • Need a game with challenging AI for the single-players (ie. like SWG)
  • Need a game with a persistent MMORG env. for the multi-players to RP in, build up player-based factions, and have  player-based participatory economy (ie. like EVE and SWG and other MMORGS)
  • Need a game that provide tactical depth in space combat simulations for PvP play (ie. like OP)
  • Need a game that provides a lot of racial variety for game play regarding ship customizations (ie. like SFC3) and tactial space battle play (ie. like OP)

If some game publisher can bundle  all the above features in one game in the Star Trek genre then I think it will do well as a subscription game.

Disagree. I would say it would be Elite Force 1 (possibly 2).

It would be best if you all played this game to keep Trek gaming alive.Karnak nice idea but there is a MMO in the works for Trek gaming and an MMO stlye would be pay to play as for the large bandwidth that is needed unlike GW which uses less much like Dyna.I wouldn't mind knowing more about the FPFs history and the rest of the D2 clans.

I asked about the clans and fleets too and go no answer,.. when I was thinking of joining a fleet I did not want to join the biggest, nor the weakest.  I could not get any data on fleets.  I think they change so much maybe that is tough data to keep a grip on.

Unlikely...more like it's a lot of typing because there is so much "Data".  ;D
You don't see Fleets change much on D2 at all.
They simply fade into a mere shadow of their former selves... :-\
Maybe if you were more specific in what kind of things you want to know... ;)

I'm sure everyone's has their own favorite game, but as trek games go I tend more to simulations than shoot-em-ups, and I just hate that Trek game are mostly skewed toward the 'federation'.
YUK !

But I will look around for EF, 1 or 2.

Here's the $64 question: "Will it have Kzinti, Gorn, Lyran, Hydran, or ISC?"

According to some sources, including bethesda soft, it will have Romulan, Federatio, Klingon and Borg.
According to others, there will be Gorn instead of Borg.
