My thoughts exactly. I'm just hoping it doesn't stunt my carreer growth in the long run since I'll be up for chief again a second time. I guee it's a wait and see deal for now.

That could be to your benefit as it will also put you far away from negative politics and possibly in a situation that has some positive one going for you.

True, I just hate how my career now deals with 50% honest sweat and bullets(Tests and evals) and 50% politics (What ever the Navy requires for chiefs that particular year)

Well, I spent some time on DG way back in the 80's or early 90's. The carrier pulled in there like 5 times one deployment. (I was in a squadron onboard at the time.) Nice beaches, nice view, lots of crabs and supposedly sharks in the water. The one club I went to was OK, first time I drank red beer. And a couple of the folks from the VP squadron deployed there took us in and fed us amareto sours one night too. I think the VPers were about the only females on the island back then.

Anyway, good luck and all of that. Spending that much time away from the family surely sucks. But hopefully in the end it will work out for the best. Is this a job that will help you towards making Chief?

Wow, I'm really suprised that they allowed a carrier to pull in, They had a sweat ex on a DDG. The lib we had to pull was done in small shifts. That must have been a real task to get a carrier accomidated.

It was definitely interesting. I don't think I saw a "native" the whole time we were there. We also did flight ops from anchor one day, that was interesting! lol

I'll tell Alien to ge back on. But, she was cruising through some of the other threads a week back. You can blame me on that with the upcoming transfer and the introduction of another online community.

We have to see the first movie before we go to see the new one. I didn't want to be disapointed in the movie that had Orlando Bloom but not the HOTTIE ELF!

The first one has a killer DVD version. If ya got 2 1/2 hours (They never rip your money off on the time) then sit back and enjoy, the one at the movies is killer too (Again, 2.5 hours, so go easy on the cokes), and the best thing? No more 3 year wait for a sequel, it will be out next summer!

Being an IC in the navy I've seen the first one plenty of times since we had to show it throughout the ship. Since everyone couldn't see it at the same time, we got allot of requests to play it again and again and again......

I guess seeing the DVD with plenty of extras would be a refreshing change. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have to pick it up.
