  looks like there was a large messup on the server it tells me I have 2 ships and Crasybeard has 2 also it seems like we both bought a ship at the same time and it tied us together and when he named his ship it named mine and now we cant buy or sell ships and I had no interface.

CrazyBeard (aka ME)  has a Ghosted  B-DCR1 called SHIP #11   and a REAL  B-SGL ... which now Draws TWICE the Ships in Missions ...    but ... would love to sell it .. and cant ....

so Created a New Account  Cr4zyBeard to play on.....

Unfortunatley, the only cure that anyone has ever found for the invisible second ship problem is to start a new aaccount.  Go ahead and do that, (I see Crazybeard already has) and I'll transfer over your pp from your original account the first chance I get.

This has been a rare problem on many servers, but seems to happening  a little less rarely on Economic War.  There have been four reported cases so far. 

I'm not sure why it is happening more often this time around, but I have a working theory.  Based upon the reports, it seems to related to instant delivery in the shipyards and seems to happen when two people buy for the same ship at the same time.  I suspect it is happening more for us this time because, with the setup and shiplists we aren't used to, people are experimenting with more ships.  More frequent ship buying equates to more chances to hit "buy" at the same time as someone else.  I could be wrong about this, but until we learn more that is the most sensible theory I see.

I don't want to turn off instant ship delivery, because people like it, and I don't want to discourage people from buying lots of different ships and having fun.

I encourage you all to keep buying lots of different ships whever you want.    Feel free to create new accounts if you get the invisible ship bug.  And don't be afraid of it; it doesnt' happen very often even on this server.   I'll try to keep up with transfering pp to keep any unfortnate consequences at a minimum.

Forgive my ignorance on this subject, but wouldn't just a five or ten minute delay from the time you click buy and the time you get the chip be acceptable?

Delays aren't based on time like that. They're based on the stardates. THus any delay is a minimum of one turn.

plus some of the trouble is the server failing to update the status of player ships. they buy the ship and sell the old one, but the server doesnt update the selling of the old one. When the server is laggy or acting slow its been happening more often than not.

this could be more of the new ISPs' trouble than Herr burts'.
