Quick question for Bonk

Hey, Bonk:

What is the limit for number of ships per hull class in OP?  If I remember right, it was 60 for EAW and that got bumped up to 120 for OP, is that right?

Also, is it 120 for Heavy_Cruiser, and 120 for New_Heavy_Cruiser, or just 120 for CA?

Just wondering in regards to today's crashes, 'cause I'm thinking the two surviving cartels have a pretty long list of Lght Cruisers.

I believe it is 128

and I know it is per hull group 128 FF,  128 CL, 128 CA, 128 DN

I am sure it is per hull group and 95% sure it is 128

Yes, from the patch readme as of 2.5.3.8:

71)Increased the number of ships per class from 64 to 128.

But you can use a different model for every ship in the list if you want as far as I know. That would be:
19 races * 20 classes * 128 ships = 48640 ships/models possible... so yes there is a practical limit on the number of models that can be used, you are correct.

Effectively unlimited models as far as I'm concerned though as you can have one per ship for a total maximum of 48640.

In reading bonks reply I am confussed by "19 races x 20 classes"

maybe I missunderstand the classes,..

I should shut up and leave it to the experts  :)

OK, that just means the limit really is for FRIGATE, DESTROYER, WAR_DESTROYER, etc. rather than for FF, CL, CA, DN.  Which makes a bit more sense.

Still, I was noticing the LIGHT_CRUISER lists had gotten pretty long in the combined cartels.  (Pirates just seem to looooove making light cruisrs.)   I'll double check them to make sure I'm not creating an array out of bounds error.

Yup, it is maximum 128 ships per "Class Type". (As I had already reminded Herr Burt in another thread... ;) But I understand completely, the number of variables in a server can become overwhelming, it gets tough to remember everything...)

Thanks Skaren, I was distracted researching other stuff for the last half hour, just noticed this now.

The calculation:

19 races * 20 classes * 128 ships = 48640 ships/models possible

Just refers to the theoretical maximum size of a shiplist. Though I think OP would creak and groan under the load and would probably take a few days to start up.  :D

I just went over the Beast Raiders and Prime Cartels in Excel using the auto filter and the most ships I found in any one "Class Type" was 65 "LIGHT_CRUISER"s for the Beast Raiders so you look OK there...

edit: Did you remember to remove the Romulan donors on the new serverside list?
