My Textures
« on: May 11, 2006, 03:29:45 pm »
Okay, since recieving my beloved Osiris and finally being able to fly her, I've been bouncing between several different projects.  Helping a friend who is working on a Megaman fan game, making an RPG on my own (but using the RPG Maker 2K3...which apparently hates all forms of if/then/else logic, arrrgh!  My beutiful Materia system is in ruins >_<), and occasionally working on my own set of textures for my Osiris Class ship, USS Neversail.

I'm putting them up both because I haven't been around in a little bit and I'd like a few opinions.  This is my first time creating my own Aztec as well as texturing from scratch (The saucer, except for the transporter emitters and bridge/torpedo turret is all mine.  I'm gonna get rid of the bridge/turret textures as soon as I can figure out something clever to put in their place.)

I tried to detail the sides and top of the nacelle as best as I could.  Unfortunately both the top and bottom of the nacelles use the same texture.  So it looks a little wonky from below.  But it's cool as far as I'm concerned.

I erased most of Reddragon's side textures for the stardrive and tried to get as close as I could, since it looked so cool the first time around.

Anyways, you'll be able to tell which aztec is mine.  Now I'm gonna go and finish up the technical BS before I start work on the games again.

::Alchemic Edit::
The picture on the dorsal saucer is Tifa from FF7.  Since It's only on my custom version of the textures, and I have another version that's clean if anyone wants a set, I figured it was allright.  I couldn't track down the author, though.  If anyone recognizes it, give me a PM so I can find him, would ya?

I like this ship, it has a nice profile from all sides, a rarity these days.

These are incredible textures.  Extremely promising.  I can't texture to save my life, but I know good textures when I see them.  Very very good.
The pen is truly mightier than the sword.  And considerably easier to write with.

Hoorj for input! XD

Thanks for the feedback FW.  I've been planning on getting to that raised section down the center of the Dorsal/Ventral saucer, but I'm still figuring out how I wanna do it.  I did finally get to blacking out a few of the lights on the saucer. XP

I've been trying something new with the nacelles, Wanted to see if I could get it to look a little like the manifolds were lit from the front and back.  I took a screen from ingame to see if I could get away with it.

I added a bar on the nacelles like you suggested, but adding more would be problematic.  There's not much room on the texture.

I'm not that skilled with photo editors, but I'll see what I can do.

BTW, where are those corridor pics on Sci-Fi meshes?  Keep in mind I have to keep the texture size small (768x768 for the saucer), as I don't have a great PC, or it'll lag my game bad.

I was listening to "Magical Dreamers" (Song of Marbule) from the Chrono Cross soundtrack when I started working on her again.  That's turned into this thing's theme, lol.

The textures are nice... the model itself is wanting, i think.
