Sorry, guys, some sort of instability has crept into the server. It ran fine for most of the day after the Cartel elminations, but now it won't stay up for more than ten minutes.

I've a few ideas to look at, and will spend some time working on it to see if I can get it fixed. There is no point in constantly restarting it over and over and causing you the frustration of missons that don't count

I'll let you know when its ready to run again. Hopefully that will be before too long tonight, but I'll let you know.

If this goes on for too long I'll extend the server a day or so to make up for lost time.

The system *seems* to be stable again. I think the machine was crashing at the time alloted to build ships, and so I boosted the econ of the lost cartels and gave them planets and a base.

THEY EACH HOLD THREE HEXS IN A CORNER! DO NOT ATTACK THESE!

All the shipyards now have ships.

All players now appear as their new cartel, and have their name appear in the color of their new cartel. The idea of having your name remain your original color was cool, but I can't take the chance that it was what was causing the crashes.

Hopefully, this will hold. If it doesn't, then I may begin to suspect my machine. In that case, Frey has generously offered the use of THOR. I won't bring it up again tonight; I'm headed to bed.

Let's see what happens. Get on and kill something!

At roughly 2 AM Wednesday morning it wasn't showing up in the server listing. Total bummer.

Fate is such a cruel prankster. No sooner had I typed that, then my ISP went down. I couldn't even post here to tell you what was going on or that the server hadn't crashed this time!

<grumble>

I have no idea if yesterday's problems were partially due to an unstable ISP. I tend to be more suspicious of the other things I fixed, but I'm sure a weak connection wouldn't have helped anything.

Unzip this folder into your main SFC folder, then double click the bat file. (Bonk, if you want to do another NSIS installer, that would be great!)

So (dare I say it again?) Let's see what happens. Log on and kill something!

Got a handful of people on, all running missions. It's been up for an hour and a half. So far so good!

One oddity since it came back up - Homeworld Assault missions don't seem to be giving DV shifts.

I've completed three in a row that didn't shift the DV or show up in the news
(as Wyldefire, running on the Rom homeworld in a Prime Cartel hex)

I've run a couple of surprise reversed that did report and give a shift, just to confuse the issue a bit more

Not sure if any other cartels are running into this problem, just an FYI

It's not the server,..

Prime Cartel is too strong to be affected by DV shifts.

Econ War is not listed in the server listing and did not appear after several refreshes.
