Removing donors serverside on a split list is an absolute must.  I don't know if you remember RDSL, but Skull, DH and I will never forget that rocky start.  edit: (the remining list of the split race must be a complete list of course)

I also used to have a blank space between each cartel and each empire, so I could easily jump from faction to faction in Excel.   Took me a while before I realized that the game coudn't see the first ship after a blank line.   So now there are no blank lines.

The Autofilter is your friend. Click the second row (click on the 2 at the left) to select the whole row, then on the menu "Data...Filter...Autofilter".  Excellent tool for shiplist analysis. Then check the dropdowns

edit: I usually "Window...Freeze panes" as well with cell F3 selected before applying the autofilter.

Then before saving I remove the autofilter and unfreeze the panes, though I don't think that makes any difference.

Use care when editing (especially copying and pasting rows) with the autofilter on to avoid race discontinuities, the autofilter is mostly handy for analysis, allowing to filter the list by any column...or multiple columns - most useful. (say, for light cruisers carrying PFs) You can also apply custom conditional filters with it too...

edit: also, the autofilter is disturbed by blank rows much as the dynaverse server is, it will only filter up to the first blank row.

Hmmm..... maybe I should see if it is only near Romulan space that I begin getting missions that won't load.   Maybe the game can't create any Romulan characters, as I used to be unable to create TigerHeart characters?  That bears investigating

Yup, the server would have been unable to create mission AI as it would only have seen the donors at the top of the list.

The shiplist must not only provide ships that are available to create server AI characters for all years the server will run, it must also provide sufficient ships to create mission AI for all years the server will run for all mission conditions.

Not sure about the restart.    I want to make damn sure this thing is working as it should before I start it up again.   That was quite embaressing to have it go down again so soon, and I'm sure it was very frustrating for all of you too.   It can't be very much fun to reserve your Sunday night and then have the stupid admin not be able to get his game running.

Building a server involves a lot of details.

It usually requires a lot of people and a lot of time.

You guys do it in a short amount of time, usually by yourselves.

So you gonna miss details.

Besides... it is very difficult for men to look at details.

It requires them to use both sides of their brains.

So I understand, wholeheartedly, that you have done your very best, as a man.

And I applaud you for trying to attemt to think like a woman!!!

I agree, and no matter what thanks to you Admins who work your butts, or Herr Butts off, for our fun and pleasure.  I still had fun last night practicing on GSA, I got my ass spanked repeatedly so hard that this morning it is still painfull to sit in my office chair.

PS and thanks to all the folks who flew with me and accepted the losses, without moaning and groaning.  You were all a gracious and friendly bunch.  Have faith I will get up to speed soon enough.

Ignore the gettin beat by a woman comment, I fully expected you to whoop me good.  At least now it might be a fair fight !  With my luck your on the other side of the Galaxy.  I am flying for WyldeFire or WyldeHeart Clan depending on whose writing it.

You ever fly GSA, it would be nice to practice against someone who hasn't memorized every damn ship in the game, and knows every hot key like the back of their hand.  Plus you could balance the team opposite me ,..

Good luck with your Pirating even if your a competing clan !  At least with me there is honor among thieves/Pirates.

skaren...your not supposed to know the hotkey configuration like the back of your hand...You change the hotkey configuration so that it IS the back of your hand.  I've set mine up so that my most commonly used buttons are right where I want them.  Then theres the ever popular delete button...I think it gets used more often than the Z button button does now.    I find it odd that "Flee Now" didn't come with a default binding...its so useful.

Furthermore I often host "super battle nights" for a group of 10 folks so if I start changing my setup then if someone has to fly on my machine I put them hurting for their campaign battles.

Lastly sometime other folks will host a game at their house,.. so then I have to change the setup if I fly over there,....  As a group we decided to stick with standard setups so that as people shift around seats to get campaign battles done, we are not tying up vauluble game time re-configuring machines each battle. 

On some battle nights there can be several 6 player campaign battles, each one involving different folks.  You can imagine the nightmare as games fired up and keyboards were missconfigured,.. the screams of "restart the game",.. I can almost hear them now

Well, they claim they are cats.   However we must look at the evidence.

With their big batlike ears and long, naked, pink tails, I think they are just hopped up rats trying to pretend to be something better than they really are.
