http://www.sanyo.com/aboutsanyo/blimp_about.cfmGot some cool pics I'll post later, the airship was cruising around downtown and sw Austin. I did some research and look at what Sanyo and the Japanese and Europeans are doing. Kind of leaving us in their dust to be honest.
http://www.sanyo.com/aboutsanyo/solarark.cfmToday, we're looking to a higher power for inspiration - the sun. SANYO solar cells have harnessed the energy of the sun to power homes and to irrigate African deserts by desalinating seawater. In 1990, a plane powered by SANYO solar cells actually broke a world record, becoming the first solar powered plane to fly across America.
I feel bad that companies outside the U.S. are doing this kind of stuff, while we drag our feet and offer weapons, food, and regime changes instead. Vietnam proved that you must build the infrastructure instead of just walking or flying around blowing up stuff.
BTW, on a side note, solar and alternative fuel sources stocks are screaming for vengeance, and soon as the world gets more and more off oil dependency, the sector could very well be producing the next batch of millionaires.
Another cool new gadget is machines with blades being anchored to the bottom of rivers, the blades are slow enough to not harm the fish, but the electricity generated is way above wind power.
