It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Sanyo blimp?

Got some cool pics I'll post later, the airship was cruising around downtown and sw Austin. I did some research and look at what Sanyo and the Japanese and Europeans are doing. Kind of leaving us in their dust to be honest.

Today, we're looking to a higher power for inspiration - the sun. SANYO solar cells have harnessed the energy of the sun to power homes and to irrigate African deserts by desalinating seawater. In 1990, a plane powered by SANYO solar cells actually broke a world record, becoming the first solar powered plane to fly across America.

I feel bad that companies outside the U.S. are doing this kind of stuff, while we drag our feet and offer weapons, food, and regime changes instead. Vietnam proved that you must build the infrastructure instead of just walking or flying around blowing up stuff.

BTW, on a side note, solar and alternative fuel sources stocks are screaming for vengeance, and soon as the world gets more and more off oil dependency, the sector could very well be producing the next batch of millionaires.

Another cool new gadget is machines with blades being anchored to the bottom of rivers, the blades are slow enough to not harm the fish, but the electricity generated is way above wind power.  ;)

Gonna go back to engineering for that wonderful edit program, I'm not the person you want to resize your pics.

BTW, nothing glamorous or anything, but a true airship in flight. Makes me wonder when we will see a return considering fuel costs nowadays. I'll go slow and live the Hindenburg life (Minus the hydrogen) any day. SWA can keep the no reserved flights and their peanuts!

Dude, you don't even get peanuts on Southwest anymore.  They're afraid of being sued by someone with a peanut allergy, who accidently inhales a peanut smell or something.

They give you little bags of nachos, or some crap.

Oh crap... you know what some of those new corporate blimps are Jack?  Sometimes, they are police aviation vehicles with a corporate logo on them.

Cities are learning that they are cheap to fly and they can stay up for a whole shift or more, unlike a helicopter.

Peanuts are often grown in rotation wiih corn and cotton on the same land with the same equipment. Its just a factor of time until a parent of one of these children with the popular and mysteriously new :skeptic: (like ADD ;)) allergy to mycotoxins produced by fungus on peanut crops discovers that and then you won't be able to get a cotton pillow or even corn chips on those flights.
