Star Treks warp into Web space
Bethesda's takes on Roddenberry's sci-fi series land Web sites; art, news, info on both Tactical Assault and Legacy available online.

Those who are gamers and diehard Star Trek fans are probably boiling over in excitement in anticipation of Bethesda Softworks' 2006 lineup. Later this year, Bethesda will release not just one, but two Star Trek games.

Star Trek: Legacy, a real-time strategy game, is being released on the Xbox 360 and PC in the third quarter. Star Trek: Tactical Assault, a "real-time spaceship combat" game, will be released on the DS and PlayStation Portable in the fourth quarter.

To Trekkies, anything Star Trek-related that isn't right around the corner seems like parsecs away. To ease the pain of waiting, Bethesda has launched the Web sites( http://startrek.bethsoft.com/home/home.html ) for both games today. If they hurry, gamers can go where only a few have gone before and get the latest details on both titles, including screenshots, news, and game information. Future updates will include fan forums and various downloads to beam up.

Check out this picture.  Isn't the deflector dish and (possibly) the bussard collectors a bit reminicant of P81's?  I'm not finger-pointing or conclusion-jumping, just asking if any similarities are indeed there between that Galaxy-class and P81's...

Someone on the Trek BBS claims to have spoken with Rick Knox and confirmed that his models were being used in Legacy, which I think is kind of obvious if you look at the closeups of the refit Constitution.

I believe he told me they were his. Ofcourse if the game is moddable they'll get tossed for SNS and CG versions anyways. Infact I don't expect the game to have any stock ships left after the first month of release LOL.

I actually like the planet the most out of that pic.  Its rather nice and the effects are really good.  I'm pretty excited now about this game.  i wonder how much control the user has over the ships....

ROFL...

I Agree with TUS the effects in this game.. nebulae and planets and general space effects look awsome.... Cant wait to get my hands on it... the ingame engine looks like it handles specular abd bump mapping.. (thank you  :))

And like SF2 said.... We will all be trying our fingers at making ships for this beastie  ;D

although can i just say the PSP and DS versions look.... rubish  :D   :police:

But saying that I will probably still buy the DS version....  :)

Planet appearance is important.  The first thing I change in my Texture folder is the atmosphere bmp file.
