Greetings Strat -

Not sure what you mean exactly?!   You tried to connect (to a game or the monitor) and it did connect but was slow?  Other than this main site, the other stuff still seems to be down...

Cheers All - no complaints, just observations from a Dyna Junkie ;D

I think,.. he means that for a week or more Dynaverse.net was painfully slow.

I nearly abandoned it but then shakes started in.  I started sweating,.. headache,.. etc.

Couldn't take it,.. just had to log in and wait, drooling as the pages painfully ground up on my screen.

Alas,.. she is fast again

Status update:

We've completed the commercial account switchover and all of the servers are now on their permenent IP's. Our ISP identified a downstream issue on our circuit that was causing our upstream bandwidth to be only about 100K at peak intervals, hence the reason for the slow loads and packet loss. I have been contacted by our ISP this morning to update the issue, they said they had found the actual case and were implementing repairs as he spoke.

Then, at about 1:00pm, a technician showed up to my door, and asked if he could take some line readings. Everything looked good, and by all the tests we're now back up to almost our normal upstream bandwidth. So if you see some lags or momentary disconnects, it's just our ISP continuing to IMPROVE the service level. We should be 100% functional by Friday, end of business day. If we see any problems over the weekend, I have been given the local supervior over the line department's number, and have been instructed to call him in that event.

Currently, while D.Net is back up, the directory servers are not. Why? Because we're taking this opportunuity to upgrade as well. The directory servers should be back up by this evening, around 7:00pm Central Standard time. All XenoCorp Hosting Services sites should be back up momentarily. All other XenoCorp Communications services should be back up momentarily.

Regarding the monitor page - I am working on re-emplementing this on our more powerful consolidated servers. MONITOR.XENOCORP.NET was it's own box, and while I could bring it up in our current environment, I am thinking about just running the monitoring software on one of our existing servers.

They can handle it - thanks to you guys in the community that donated. See what donations do? They allow us to handle situations like these with much greater ease and still keep the necessary services up and running. Instead of the site being completely down for a couple weeks, we were able to secure a new location, and get everything set up with the commercial grade service, static IP's and the like. Of course, I'm paying for the monthly costs for that commercial service, and while we don't expect nor will you ever see anyone demand it here @ Dynaverse.Net - your contributions defer that cost to us here @ Dynaverse.Net and allow me to continue to provide exceptional services for our community FOR FREE.

So I wanted to take a moment and thank once again each and every person that contributed in our last fund raising event. You all rock !!!!

Greetings Frey -

Sorry to be such a junkie - am in dyna withdrawl :D

Any news on when the directory servers will be coming back? - I still get firewall or not online messages.  I haven't tried ot fire up my server again as i'm assuming stuff is still down.

I just had a scary thought.... since services are moving IP's do we need to change our WONDirectory server settings for our game clients (as well as servers)?

I am working on the directory servers now.

You will not need to change anything client side, the servernames are handled by DNS.

I'll keep you posted...

Okay, here's the next update.

The upgrade for hosting services and comm services went pretty smooth - it was some hardware and infrastructure related stuff that took so long last night for me to bring everything back up. I believe in doing things right the first time, so I just took my time getting all the servers on their APC UPS's, setting up everything correctly, and routing all the cables and strapping them down.

Now, everything is in it's "permanent" home and configurations should be finished today. Our ISP is still working on the upstream issue and expect that to be resolved by tomorrow in the AM.

So if you see some burps or outages (they assured me it wouldn't be longer than 10 minutes at a time) it's just the last legs of our moving in, so to speak.

Again, thanks to you all for bearing with us......

Bonk, Frey & D.Net Admin Team All  -- You Guys Rock :woot:

I've been aching to test out some changes i made to my shiplist the other day.  Been slow goin - having occasional issues with ships being "already damaged" when missions start then causing CTD's.  The AVC+ from the RDSL list did this everytime.  Now I've got it down to where only one hardpoint is damaged, but you still can't put stuff into the repair queue....  weird.  I've heard this can happen because of giving something too much armor (over 50) which isn't the issue here, nor in one other ship I brought in....

Ok - that's my way of hijacking a thread LOL, sneaking a question in there for ya  ;)

If I ever win the big PowerBall, I'll make sure to setup a hefty endowment for the D.Net org so that y'all can have permanent high paying jobs and we can guarantee this games safe haven till we're all in our 80's..... and beyond  ;D

Frey - after hearing your description of squaring away "The Engine Room" UPS's UPC's cables, plasma conduits etc.  Any chance you might take a pic of the boxes we all so often call home??  --- make sure if you include yourself in the photos that you're wearing the requisite red engineering shirt  ;)

Cheers
