I had to goto control panel/ admin/ services to get rid of the messenger from hell. I had to disable it there to kill it.

could you give a win xp home edition translation of that (right now I just when to the start menu then clicked on properties from the messanger program shortcut from the start menu then I clicked find target and then folders then I banished the UNHOLY messanger to the recycle bin it still works from their so now I have deleated it and restarted my computer I pray that will work and keep the unholy messanger from resurrecting to my machine I HOPE AND PRAY wish me luck) now enough of my ramblings on the subject

Click Start->Control Panel
Click Administrative Tools
Click Component Services
Double-click Services Local
Double-click "Messenger" to bring up the options panel
Right-click the highlighted line and choose Properties
Click the STOP button
Select Disabled or Manual on the Startup Type drop-down menu
Click OK

hope that helps.
