Following The Ideals laid down by its predecessor, the Cerebus, The Minotaur was designed with speed, maneuverability and power in mind. The ship was also the test bed for the new technologies to be used for the excelsior refit of 2293

To alleviate the inherent design flaws of the cerebus that prevent long missions and the lack of accomodation, parts of the Miranda-esque roll-bar were to be made accomodateable, and the Excelsior-refit saucer was used to further increase accomdations.

Fitted with up to date weapons, engines, and two squadrons of fighters and a compliment of shuttle craft, the Minotaur was meant to be the new fast dreadnought of the fleet, but the cost to build the ship made the previous DNF more sensible.

That's nice but if you want it scaled properly and stuff I can atleast port it for ya. Then you can chop up one of my excelciors hp's if ya want, since I've already got them ready to go with just about everything ya need. I'll send one over to ya if ya want with the megaphaser properties added too. All ya gotta do is use the MPE to put everything in place.

Never feel bad about the comments or lack there of...
infact rejoice that you did not get very many. Usually only the complaints are posted, praise usually doesn't happen. If ppl like it they download it and play with it happily, not look up a thread a post their praise for it. Now if someone hated it they would have posted here Pmed you and sent you death threats by e-mail.

on a side note if you really want praise change your on-line to wicked zombie, I noticed that usually helps allot.

Here is Feedback don't take it personally.
At a distance it looks fine as it is a interesting design, not orginal as there has been a design very close to this in the past. I still have not figured out why you put red dots for phasers on the top and let white ones on the bottom. You should have decided on what you where going to use as phasers and stayed with it. Now we get closer and look at the shuttle bays first the texture is upside down from the P81 miranda it more than likily came from the triangles go the other way. Then we move forward to the photon launchers. You should also have picked one over all pattern you were going to use and applied it to both areas th upper pod and the lower one. Moving in closer you can see the aztec patterns don't match on the ship at all, and as basic elements they should. The Warp engines and saucser match but the rest don't. The roll bar is avaible in a excelsior pattern I have given it to both Fury and SF 2 so there was no real reason not to use it with it modified to match the overall look you wanted. Moving closer again you can see through the model in several locations,; Engines, upper pod and the pylons. All of these are mesh errors and needed to be rewelded by selecting the polies and clicking on weld.

It is in the details that things always go wrong, and are the hardest to fix if they were not planed for.

I knew id forget to fix the bottom phasers... *shrugs* for SOME REASON the group that had the phasers in it (they WERE 3d...) would crash max :S i delted the group and it worked

Like i siad, first model, no idea how to actually TEXTURE a model :P thats one of the big thigns i need to learn obviously :) links to tutorials would be cool :)

for now im not going to worry about it, i think ill revamp it eventually :)

17 replies to a topic is pretty good... look at the more seasoned modelers like WZ.. its rare you see even him getting 17 replies to a new ship...

Most of the peeps here who visit the forum ate only interested in DLing ships and looking around... you can tell that with the number of views to your posts and the actuall replies... although allot of people will look.. most are not qualified enough to comment on your work.. and those that are will not go into detail... 1. because they will get slammed by others for stating inperfections and stuff.. 2. because they havent got the time..

you did a good job on the ship... and if you need a mapping tut let me know and I will make you one.. (seriously)

And from experiance... the biggest topics (ie replies) are the ones you envolve the community in...   WZ is an awsome modeler and an insperation to us all... his topics are low because he releases an excellent ship without asking the opinions of this community.. I.E from knowhere he releases a ship... we all think its fab... we let him know its gr8... and thats it...

However if half way or in the beginning of the production u then seek and show the community what you have and ask for feedback and imput your entire posts will recieve loads of replies..

Im not teaching you to suck eggs man.. I know you have been here for a while just wanted to get that out... Its not every day you will recieve a reply like GAFY's detailed one...  ;)

(PS most people just want to here... yeah gr8 model cos they take offence to people trying to help them improve.. i.e pointed out the errors in the model  ;))

If you are asking how to map texutres I use to do it in milkshape, probably still can but have not done that for a long time. It would be easier to point you to tutorials though then it is for me to write them. You stated max as the software you are using which I don't have yet, so I can not help you there but I have seen tutorials for it arounf here somewhere.

If you are asking how to make textures using existing ones I can help you there PSP and PS are almost the same thing. It all comes down to how much you know about them and if you have used layers in the past with them. if you have then I can help you out some there. If you are using something other than Paintshop Pro or Photo Shop then I can not help you as I have only used these two. I use PaintShop Pro and like it, I am getting to the point though were I know the auto tools in PS are easier to use, and I am getting lazy about doing by hand. Still prefer to do it by hand but the time it takes is vanishing from my life again, as those ppl who are waiting for me to finish somethings know. Once you know the basics of using layers doing textures only requires time and imagination. Each of these is a very different skill but you need them all inorder to do a new model. The 3D work that is the model, the ability to make areas that the textures will go to and map them in a logiacal order, and finally making the textures themselves. All require time, and  patients; none of it is easy. You get better and faster at it by doing it it but none of it is easy. it is also one of the reasons that the ones who do this stuff don't give out comments unless they are asked for. We all know the time and effort that goes into these things and would prefer incourgement to continue than negitive remarks. I personally don't mind them if you tell me why or what was wrong, it might just be opinion but if explained it becomes worth it. just to see it sucks or I hate it makes ppl want to give up, but if they explain why then you get a chance to fix it or do better next time.

So I explained what I saw in your ship posted above. As a first try you did well and you know what I, and others, look for in a ship now.
