Anyone Had this Problem...
« on: April 20, 2006, 11:40:41 pm »
Just installed SFC OP onto my tablet and when I go to enter the rego key, the game just beeps back at me whenever I attempt to key any character in.

Anyone come across this before?

Countless times... patch to 2.5.5.2 and read the readme, where it says to edit the shortcut to correct the "Start In" parameter.

Or you can just browse to the installation folder, copy StarFleetOP.exe and paste it as a shortcut on the desktop, then use only that shortcut to start the game.

However if you patch and install OP+4 you will not need to manually fix the issue as OP+4 includes the fix.

Patch: http://www.dynaverse.net/downloads/sfc2_op/patches/SFCOP_Patch_2500-2552.exe
OP+4: http://www.dynaverse.net/downloads/sfc2_op/Mods/opplus_40_models.exe

(downloads might be slow as we're working out some network issues at the moment - try getting them early in the morning or very late at night)

And do not launch from the CD as that will start the opening video which is the source of the problem, once installed the CD is not required to play anyway. (the game is pre-CD check era, most games now include bad sectors and other various CD check schemes designed to put unnecessary wear and tear on your CD drive)

edit: whoah, just noticed you said "tablet"... curious - what model is it?

Bonk,

thanks for your help - I will install the OP thingy that has the fix in it.

The tablet is my Tablet PC - only has a Centrino 1.1. GHz CPU in it but it is really for business use. This one (HP TC1100) is the last in its range as HP are going over to the dark side and will only make convertables rather than a slate / convertable.
