By disconnect, I mean that while the interface seems graphically solid, the DS ship graphics do not seem on par with the interface graphics. Further, while the interface is seeming to represent the ship in a schematic that uses essentially a wire-framed, vector approach showing all the detailed line work on the ship, this detail does not seem to be found in the ship graphics.  Last, while the interface represents shields in a hexagonal pattern with thin green lines, the game graphics have the shields as segments of a circles that are thick but in different colors.  It would seem to me that there should be some consistencies between how game elements are represented in the interface and in the game area, and that the interface should not look "better" than the actual moving game elements.

*shrugs* well, it felt/looked good in motion :)  Since your hand is moving across the bottom screen you're not really looking at those details.

Well, this is probably one of the major reasons I'll buy the DS now.  I'm definately going to get this game.

There is a campaign mode.  30 scenarios... Federation which then unlocks the Klingon.

and RE: the ship graphics/disconnect... the screengrabs for both builds are a month and a half behind what was shown at E3.  That means there's no mip-mapping, multi-source lighting, scondardy effects, fragmentation of ships or a ton of other things.  I would suspect that's why the individual who played the build at E3 didn't have the 'disconnect' feel, because both top and bottom were at a more equal state of finish.

New screens will be going out to the sites and press sometime in the next couple weeks, with all the nifty stuff like bump and specular mapping on the PSP and such... :)

ok back to it, 5 weeks and counting...

In the Legacy video I did not like that if was for and aft weapons, I found in BC that same thing and it created go around in circles types of battles.  Notice that is also what was done in the video.

Someone earlier said it was Bridge Commander without the bridge.  So far I agree

I will wait and see, but will be holding off on dumping 50 bucks (guessing that is the price) until I hear some reviews on these forms from the tried and true SFC crew.

As far as the hand held,..  you have to be kidding.  No internet play, no online campaigns, I would get sick o that fast.

Hope for the best, expect the worst, then you cannot get disappointed   :)

Strike 1: It's not TNG - I have to stick to my guns on this. Same as ST XI: It's not TNG.
Strike 2: It's not Moddable (easily - like SFC)

Legacy I will purchase, this I will not.

..Because the game does not have to, and will not, remain the same..

I find the era is not that important to me.

I could care less if it is early enterprise or late,.. what I want is great game that offers the best space combat (star trek) yet.

So far SFC seems to me to be the best, I would like to see it beat some day.

Besides SFC was not TNG, but you made it that way Chris!

So I just am looking for a fundamentally great game, and folks like you have helped me learn that "The game does not have to remain the same"   :)

I hope it is modder friendly, and am looking forward to the reviews of you and folks like you.

Time is a flying I remember thinking Aw Legacy is 7 months away.  Now here it is almost June, 3 months left !!!

PS    Hey Chris can you use Ship edit on UAW or are there any complications to that.  I am still trying to find a way to tone down the excessive power on the upper end ships.  Also Bonk says ship edit is unreliable, do you agree with that?

That was actually a typo on my part; I meant "conquest mode", not "campaign mode".  Like how in SFC1, 2, and 3 you could move around on a map and take missions or attack ships, one by one conquering hexes until you had conquered other empires.

Great to hear from a Quicksilver guy, anyway!  Were the demoers downstairs in the Bethesda booth at E3 next to Tactical Assault from Quicksilver or Bethesda?

That explains it :)

The guys demoing ST:TA all day Wed and Thurs (and 80% of Fri) were myself and Cory Nelson, the Producer of the project for Quicksilver.  The conquest thing was something that underwent a LOT of discussion and is still very much something that, as a game mechanic, we would love to include in the Tactical Assault series.

Glad you enjoyed it.  We're having a hell of a good time making it... and being back 'home', as it were.

I was there on Friday morning at the 9:00 appointment, so I probably met you.  One of you guys was telling me about the game for a while as I played through the whole demo- was that you or Cory?  I was the guy from NintendoPlayers.com, though you might not remember me.

I plan on buying the game the day it comes out (as well as getting all my associates and friends to do so), and hopefully we'll see a sequel with online play and Conquest mode some day.

Thanks for paying attention to fan sites such as this; more developers should do the same.

God, by Friday morning I was one thrashed little puppy...LOL.  Wed it was 8:30am - 7:30pm with 3 10 minute breaks, Thursday was the same, minus one break so by the time Friday rolled around I was lucky to be upright... :)  (I actually was sick for most of the week after E3, if that says anything...LOL)  It would have been either Cory or I... Cory was the one with glasses and the goatee, I was the one with the spiky hair and the thrashed voice in desperate need of a cig.  Glad you could play the demo through... most of the folks we had to do the 1 minute overview, so it was nice when we could actually let people play the full demo and see how it felt.
