Hey guys, a few months ago, some people on this forum asked about what people thought about this new game called "Federation Commander". In my personal opinoin, I think I really like this game, even more then Starfleet Battles, a game I grew up on back in the early 90's. I haven't bought it yet, but I like the idea of Fast game play and able to play games in a short amount of time with the stream lined rules. Right now, I'm on the fence of getting this game because I do like the rules that this game uses (would be perfect to use with the Campaign Designers Handbook or Federation and Empire) but I have already spent a lot of money over the years buying a lot SFB material, this new Federation Commander is quite pricy (between 30 to 60 bucks per component). Another bad thing I don't like is that there is huge debat about if they should add Fighters and Gunboats to Federation Commander. If they don't add those two features to the game, I know for certain I won 't buy the full product.
But what I was thinking about doing, that might be cheaper solution, was to just buy the Rule Book of Federation Commander and try to convert much of my SFB material (like SFB SSD's into FC SSD's) to Federation Commander Specs and try to make a hybid type of game for less money. So I must ask from people that have gotten this game system, is this a good solution for me? For years, I wanted SFB to be more like what this Federation Commander game is like, but I don't like the idea that they may purposely leave out some components of SFB just because a lot of there Fan base doesn't like Fighters for example. So I ask, can this be possible for a guy like me to convert my SSD's into Federation Commander equivelents and save myself a few bucks, or is buying the whole game system the best solution?
