Coming soon to a fleet near you!
« on: March 30, 2006, 09:18:00 am »
I found this 'lil ship's schematics on a site not long ago, and liked her. So, after like a week or so, here's she is, nearing done.

She's the Joshua (or by Jackill's called Loki) class command cruiser, late TMP era.

The mesh is 5200 polies, and uses 3 maps. I'm doing them 2048x2048, and if ppl want it, I'll release them intead of 1024's.

I'm halfway done unwrapping the variant with phaser strips.

Ok, so, without further addo, the pix:

this is the Joshua class command cruiser and Jackills Loki is is different, its based on the Joshua class and has mega pahsers added to the weaponry

this is the Loki:

and the Michael Adam scout:

and a Akula refit design by me:

those are all based on the Joshua class and your Joshua class model looks good, its higher poly than my models and has bigger textures  ;D

I thought I remember this design somewhere.  I actually like the phaser banks on this design more then Phaser Strips because I always thought this this was designed during the era where Excelcior Class ships were the Main Cruiser (2300 to 2330's).

Actually, these ships look more like (to me) more closer to an early-to-mid-TNG-era ship (say, 2320s-2350s), somewhat inspired by Galaxy-class Starship design with Excelsior-class influences.  Which is why I could see it with Phaser strips more than anything.  Regardless, it's a sleek design that can fit in the late-TMP-era or early-TNG-era, and I really like Adonis's interpretation of the ships (Loki, Joshua, etc.), especially the more grey versions of the hull texture on the ships.  Excellent work.

A small update. I recieved the Joshua from Adonis earlier today. Upon our review of the blueprints for this ship we discovered a cool warp sled named the Jericho. Adonis said he's get right on it. In the mean time I'll get the Joshua ready for SFC (hitpoints, scaling, etc.) And as soon as I receive the sled I'll pack it all up and get it released to Adonis' OutaLance page.

In that case Fed Works Ltd. will need to improvise.   ;)

Ya, Milkshape can't do break models, but you could do what I do and make a "pseudo break" model.  Basically, a standard .mod model broken up, with damage textures, and saved as "MyModel_brk.mod".  Not nearly as fancy as a true break model, but its better then nothing with the limited resources of Milkshape.

Ok, one question remains...

Here's a render of all 4 model and all 4 texture variants I made, the middle and the top ones are the same model variant.

Which one should be TMP and Lost-Era scheme? I was thinking of the top one to be the first batch (say 4 ship's) scheme, the middle one to be the rest, the blue/yellow one for Lost-Era, and the Phaser strip variant's one to be the early-TNG.

Suggestions?

It handles WZ's models fine, I assume it can also handle these as well.  SFC is SFC2 with a bit of differences other than a bit of less stuff, but it works basically the same way.  So an unlit, SFC1-ported version would work fine, at least that's how I view it.
