Problem playing the ISC in SFC II
« on: March 26, 2006, 12:28:10 am »
I know I am probably a dinosaur considering that I still like SFC II and have no idea how to get SFC III (But bet someone is going to tell me it's actually a downloadable and laugh) But I have hit a stumbling block and could use an assist.

To anyone who has played the ISC campaign, did you have a problem with “Homeward Bound Part II“? I keep crashing out of the game at about the time I start getting into nailing the Fed ships.

Any assistance is helpful and please be advised that I am a bit slow on the uptake when it comes to actually fixing the bugs, so any takers on this problem please be patient with my lack of brain cell cooperation, several are on strike at the moment asking for higher wages.

Thanks in advance (I hope)

have you patched the game up to date?

version number should say 2.0.3.6. at the title screen's lower-right corner

I have SFC2 aswell, but I like SFC OP so much that I haven't installed SFC2 in years.  OP just has all the same stuff and more with X Tech and more races.

Ahhh But OP does not have the missions that SFC 2 has. Unless there is some easy way to cross over the missions from SFC II into OP.

There is - the EAW missions were ported over to SFC OP.

Check out the Dynaverse.net FTP - ftp.dynaverse.net

There's a lot of stuff there :)

Thanks. Glad to be here. I checked out your FTP .... not sure what it is I was supposed to do next.

See here is the problem.

I am mid way between a computer geek and a computer illiterate. Not totally clueless but not savvy enough to do really impressive things like cross over file paths and what not. I found out how to start my prestige at 20000, but cant figure out how to change a skin.

Believe me I have tried to use some of the custom skins for Trek ...... Nadda. even after following the "easy" instructions on how to do so.

I'm one of those 'Old' people you hear so much about these days that still can't figure all this stuff out. If that helps any.

BTW. Again .... thanks for the welcome. Been here before with a CD key issue now I guess my issue is needing some teenager to explain all this stuff to me (or better yet do it for me) so as to enhance my gaming experience.

Got one handy? Like a loner or something?

Get them here "from the horse's mouth" so to speak:

Maybe the guys in the modeling forum could explain how to use custom models for you in a way you'd find easier to understand. I tend to overcomplicate things. ;)

Cool now if everything could be so easy.

As for skins ... I have had another try to break it down Barny style for me but unless it is a click and run ap I am pretty lost in the sauce.

Thanks for the link.

Will let you know how it goes.

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT and THANK YOU MUCH

Another quick question. Is there any way to make all the races of the quad hostile towards each other? I.E. everone has the same diplomatics that the ISC has, being "We are mortal enemies with XXXX" To include the pirates of course?

Just currious as I would love to make a totally blue Alpha quad.

Thank you again, and I appreciate your patience.

It comes with the moto

Yes, by editing the tensions settings in MetaMap.gf (and MetaMap.war for OP) in \MetaAssets\ServerProfiles\SinglePlayer. Use notepad to edit the files and backup the originals. Start a new campaign for the settings to take effect.
edit: see settings descriptions here: http://www3.telus.net/NuclearWessels/sfc/mods.html#10.0
Caution: "total war" settings may cause you to draft enemy AI as allies preventing the hex DV from shifting properly on mission completion. Custom "Total War" missions do exist for this purpose however.

Not sure if I reccomended trying ShipEdit... backup your shiplist, open the active copy in shipedit, select the desired ship and on the general tab use the browse button for the "geometry" box to select the file for the desired model, then save the shiplist and give it a try.
