Anyone here ever play this game?

If so, you down for a PBEM game against me?

You know, I own it, but it's so time consuming I've never finished a game of it.   :-[

hehe, I'm the same way.  I've only played the AI, and after a couple campaigns I always quit after three months of action, because I'm winning and know what the AI is going to do.

My last two campaigns, Scen 19, I quit at the end of July 42, becuase I had fortress LungaVille going, 5 US carriers at the bottom of the sea, and only one damaged Ziuikaku on the way to Tokyo.  So all I had to do was park my carriers 10 hexes away from noumea, and port attack anytime there was clear weather.

My other campaign as US, well I had sunk 5 Jap carriers by Sept 42, and had a firm grip on PM, Gili-Gili, and Lunga.

I was going to win the points battle either way, and didn't feel like slogging through 15 more months of AI.

So I thought I'd fire up a PBEM game with someone, because then it's an actual battle against a human being.

No.  the 70$ price tag turned me off, as did me thinking that it would be a slog x 100 against the AI

Ya know, we could always fire up a game and get an AAR going for the Dyna folks.  I'm sure we'll both be posting in a year from now, barring anything bad happening.  Hehe not like we're going anywhere.

Yeah, that's true.  I also think Pacific War:  The Matrix Project (Free Download from their site) has a PBEM capability.

Yeah, I downloaded that, but never got past the manual.  I don't mind playing a "supply and logistics" game if it's at about UV's level, but I just can't handle spending an hour to make sure that every godforsaken outpost I own is in supply or has a transport heading to it.  I much prefer the strategery and tactics part of war games.  I.e. feint like I'm making an all out push for PM, then spring my coiled right hook to take out Guaddy-canally.  That's much more entertaining then "oh crap, I lost 45 victory points and 15 soldiers because I forgot about that 100 person garrison of troops in Point Barrow Alaska because I was busy plotting a 10CV and 100,000 person invasion of the Phillipines"

UV strikes the right balance for me w.r.t "being in supply" and "supply is abstract enough to not detract from the game".  Your troops better have "supplies", but not to the level that if you don't have 500 rolls of toilet paper per 1000 men, you kick in the "increase disease by 1, decrease morale by 10" clause.  Or whatever.
