My other thread was getting real image intensive so starting a new one. Same fighter I was working on only with wings added on. I am currently in a phase where I can't decide what direction to go. What do you guys think,  is it better with wings or not or too the scrap heap with the entire project? I mean I think its alright but something is still lacking and I can't place my finger on it at the moment. I decided I want this to be an earth ship from about 2075. So I want to get away from it looking to funky. THis particulaar mesh is about 6000 poly. So would likely work in game.

Thanks FW. Unfortunately one of my character flaws is I can never let anything be. So I am still tweaking, I like what the secondary wing/supports do to the overall appearance. But it creates a problem in that it obstructs the engine intakes and the engines look best where they are now. Anyway still screwing around with this. Note the one with the* claws* make it look alien again. Can't help myself I guess, those will likely come off again but it might inspire some other tweak here or there. Anyways this is all a diversion form working on my tax forms  ::) Plus as long as I keep working on the mesh I don't have to texture it  :P

a suggestion. Maybe lower where the secondary wings/supports connects to the main hull from the mid line to the bottem and have them curve up to the main wings that should clear the engine obstruction IMHO

hmm, I'll try that. I did some more before I read that suggestion. From the top view this could actually work for a space station and has given me some new ideas along those lines.  The engines also work mounted on the wing tips, but that is too traditional and I think I am putting guns there.  Here is the 5 minute update.

Quick update, shown without the back end trim, this is at 11,500 polies.  I am going to experiment with a channel in the middle of the base hull to see how that looks. Those boxes look a bit blocky for a fighter.

Edit- added early concept of 4 engine scout ship. Have a few other varients to flesh out.

Probably the last update for awhile. Needs quite a bit of minor adjustments, don't have the time right now. A few other ideas have sprung out of this which I hope to share in the future. Let me know what you think. Only showing the top view of this for now.

Oh and I guess I need to make my sig pic smaller, - its on my to do list.

Egads.. Looks like you definately hit upon the basis of a new race design, nice refinemnet BTW. If I had gotten to this post earlier I would have asked you to keep a version that had the wing claws (they kinda remined me of the serinax, which I always liked).

Any word on a name yet?
