Help! I have a 15 pin joystick and need a USB adaptor.
« on: March 05, 2006, 05:01:07 pm »
I just picked up heroes of the Pacific on ebay and it looks great! I have a new computer and went to plug in my joystick and there isn't a 15 pin connector! I assume I have to buy an adaptor or a new joystick. Can anyone tell me what kind of adaptor I need, or am I better off getting a new USB joystick. I have a Thrustmaster joystick that I have enjoyed for at least ten years (I've replaced the springs and other components several times), but I love this thing!

I can get another, but they don't make this style anymore. The bastards! Any suggestions would be welcome!

I use a Logitech joystick that I piked up at walmart a few years ago. Ole Ferrit got me hooked on Crimson skies awhile back, and I tell you , that thumb Button Works like a charm. I strongly recomend it and for 20$ it's a steal Indy.

BTW, Hows the snakes doing Bro? Haven't seen any pics lately.

Thanks Midnight! I love my Thrustmaster! I've had it for 12 years now and it rocks. That converter looks like just what I need!

Stephen, I have a few new pictures and I think my motley sunglow has eggs! I bred her to my award winning motley sunglow, Striker. We could be in for an interesting spring! if you want one, I'd be happy to ship one off to you!  I am watching Sauron closely and I think she'll lay some eggs. I did not brumenate either snake so I may get slugs, but who knows?

I moved Sauron into a larger cage today so I could watch her. If she lays eggs, she should do so around the last week of March or the first week of April. I'll let you know!!!

Friend of mine has a Thrustmaster, he bought an adapter at Radio Shack.  Cost like $15~$20USD though.  Hope this helps.

There are 15pin-to-USB adapters, but not all joysticks were adaptable....  If your joystick didn't come with an adapter, it's like in the 'not' catagory.

Exactly B, I just ditched my old one and bought a new Logitech after brother Seth informed me that "yes Jack, joysticks are USB now," hehehehehehe. Shows how much things change between 2001 to 2005.  ;D

Oh man that would rock Indy.  I have a place in my office that's just begging for a pet.

You rock Indy.

Just remember corn snakes are GREAT escape artists! You'll need a very good cage. My corns have escaped from "escape proof cages" three times. They didn't read the owner's manual like I did.

I hear ya. I do have a pretty good sized aquarium that's been taking up space. 50 Gallons I think, but It would be good to put it to use. I just need to get a desent heater for the thing. ah well, gotta get back to watching SG1.

take care Bro.

You will need a hiding place and a secure lid. If the aquarium wasn't made for reptiles, you may have an issue. Heck, my cages were made for snakes and they escaped!

Also, baby snakes won't like big cages. I'd  suggest you go buy a 10 gallon cage and when it is a year or two old let her have the 50 gallon cage.

That would be my luck. I'll look to see if I can find a joystick that I like with a USB port.

Well if the Radio Shack suggestion I gave you doesn't pan out, the Logitech joystick I have works really well.  It is fairly sturdy, something I have not seen with the Satech models.  But like I said my friend has a Thrustmaster Joystick and he was able to get the adapter there at Radio Shack for about $15USD.  Since you have the same joystick there is no reason why it won't work for you as well.  Hope this helps.

you could buy a cheap sound card with a game port on it. I find SB live 5.1 's all day long (used) for 5 bucks or so. I just setup a dell OEM live (live 5.1.2) with KX project drivers and the sound rivals my stereo, and my old analog CH products flightstick now has new life.

This is probably the cheapest option... If you are running xp you can have 2 soundcards with no real issues.  Likewise I think they make PCI game cards cheap.
