Help With Tracy G. Missions.
« on: March 05, 2006, 10:48:46 am »
Maybe I suck more than I thought, but I'm having real problems with the Tracy G. missions.  Even AI enemies that I should be able to knock right out kick my butt in her missions.  Are there some tactics I'm overlooking in her missions in order to win the day?  At this point I just turn around and fly right out of any of her set-ups.

What are some of the matchups?

Well, with the Gorn it would be a matchup of a heavy marine cruiser and a frigate, if I was alone.  If I had AI support, toss in at least a heavy cruiser on top of that.  With the Hydrans I was getting spanked in a D6 by a light cruiser.

Ah... if you're flying pirate, try some strategically placed warp doubling and reinforcement. (watch the coke effect though)

What kind of light cruiser?

The light cruiser (I think) was an HBDM (?).  Bonk, I assume the coke effect is a sort of superhuman feeling and having your ship disintegrate around you from engine doubling?

Roughly, yes. That is an apt description.  ;D  It is referred to as the "cocaine rule" as for every turn warp doubling is on, one warp box is destroyed, so the more you use warp doubling, the more you need it; until the downward spiral results in a crippled husk of the ship you originally had. So use it sparingly and judiciously, ensuring you have enough spares to cover the damage to prevent a dependency situation.

That's why I try not to use it much.  To be fair though, the D6 I'm flying doesn't need all that much extra power.  I mainly use it for running away from something while still keeping shields and ECM.

Yup... the D7 is bad enough, let alone the D6... if its not a D5 or a C7 I'm pretty much hopeless in a Klingon ship.  ;D

I'm trying to remain faithful to my D6 in Korgath.  I just traded it in for an X-refitted cuiser, but I'll probably go back to the D6 soon.  I love those disruptors.  I got hooked on them during KCW.  I do OK in the D6, but the Hydran fighters really give me a hard time in it.  If I just had some AMD or even an "A" missile rack I'd be OK.

I'd love to see a B refit of the D6 in the Korgath shipyards.  So far I've only seen the D6D refit.  Oh, there was also an E4 and an F5C.  I almost went for the E4, but the lack of AMD stopped me.  Does Korgath offer the D7 in any of its versions?
