Milkshape is a low poly handling program about 12,000 polies, depending somewhat on your system. Anything over 9,000 polies is hit and miss on loading.
People always said they wanted the government to listen to them and now the government is listening, taking notes and names...and coming to see you soon!

Also, how many textures does the Potemkin-TMP have? Number of textures will give you a clue to how many groups it has. I am finding that milkshape cannot import a SFC mod with several groups. It might be able to import a *.3ds  with more groups. Ask WZ if he can give you the source file for it.

Most of WZ's ships for some reason won't load into MS3D. I know it isn't the polies, since high poly ships load into MS3D without problem.   I know this from experience.  Having someone convert the ships for you to 3DS will work.  Again, know this from experience.  Personally, I only use MS3D when porting BC ships to SFC3, or having to do the occasional work on a BC ship, as I had to do recently with the Chabot Refit.  I still much prefer MAX5.  :-D

i can't log to his forum i don't remember my password, i can't retreave it cause i change isp and i can't email him cause there something that wont work with the address, its a problem with outlook express and i don't know if i can use another software like thunderbird with this isp, so if anyone can send me the engine of the potemkin-tmp and other new fed mod from wz so i can make a few kitbash (also i would need a fca from wz in ms3d format) i can't load them, i hate ms3d toolimited and m still waiting to see if the studio max 5 that m downloading will work.

the Milkshape crashing problem with some models is a importer plugin problem i think.
I imported some of those Milkshape crashing models into max and exported them into 3ds and than those loaded fine into Milkshape.
