O.K. Then I will organize it:

raven.nevermore@gmail.com

Send me an e-mail if you want in... I figure we can probably agree on a pretty basic rule set.

Large
Continents
All victory options
No AI
All Random Civs

Rest of everything else on default?

How does it sound?

GE-Raven

Gonna sticky this in a second, But of course my email Info...

Stephen.sirgod@gmail.com

WTG Raven for Organizing this thing. Look forward to it.

O.K. for those not familiar with PBEM here is how it works.

I start a game, after my first turn it gives me a file that is saved to the PBEM directory that I e-mail on to the second player.  He/She e-mails to the third...  Finally the last player e-mails me one and turn 2 begins (Yes the first few turns will be REAL slow).

Now I recommend we start an order and go all random on the civ selection (to avoid any wrangling for certain civs).  So how I think it would be best is I will keep track of who sends me e-mails first... and that will be our order I will edit this list to let everyone know the order, and I will use the e-mail to send you the e-mail address of the person you will always send to (until they are e-liminated)

O.K. I will make the list here:

Turn order

1. GE-Raven
2. Sirgod
3. FerretLXIX
4. Lieutenant_Q
5. 762_XC
6. Mr. Tricorder
7. Dracho
8. Commander La'ra

Get in fast so we can get started.

I have one question. What happens when player X gets passed the email token and we don't hear from them for 3 weeks? Is there some kind of time limit we can set up before the AI takes their turn for them?

I would hope it wouldn't come to that, but I believe that there is a way to replace said person with an AI.

Sorry, guys... life just got a bit more complicated tonight over dinner with a 'friend.'

Don't know if I'll be able to get in.
Why do I always wind up with the hard luck cases? ::)

Because you like being a "White Knight"?

Been there, done that.  The self-sufficient ones are more... frustrating.. but much easier to get along with long-term.

If it's not too late, count me in too.

I've never done multiplayer on any Civ game before, so I'm not altogether sure how it works, but it looks like fun.

Also, I'm at my parents' house this weekend and won't be back at my dorm room until sometime tomorrow, so I won't be able to start until after then.

So... in the interest of "getting started" I think this is the final list:

1. GE-Raven
2. Sirgod
3. FerretLXIX
4. Lieutenant_Q
5. 762_XC
6. Mr. Tricorder
7. Dracho
8. Commander La'ra

Figure 8 players on a large world should be good.

I will send an e-mail address to each of you of the player right after your turn.  This is who you send the PBEM file to.  If you have a default installation... this file will be generated in My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Saves\pbem\

The final folder should be the name of your leader.  Now I think all you do is "load game" from the multiplayer/ PLay by e-mail option.  This will highlight the PBEM games area by default.  Upon opening it for the first time it will great you with your leaders name (eg. Julius Caesar, It is your turn!)  You then click O.K. and take your turn, after your turn it will auto save to the above listed area, and you send that file as an attachment to the next player in line.

So I send to Stephen
Stephen sends to Ferret
Ferret sends to Lieutenant_Q
Q sends to 762
762 sends to Mr. Tricorder
Tricorder sends to Dracho
Draco send to La'ra
La'ra sends it back to GE-Raven

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So The settings are as follows:
8 players, no ai
Random for all players
Noble difficulty
Map: Continents
Size: Large
Climate: Temperate
Sea Level: Medium
Era: Anchient
Game Speed: Normal

All victory conditions on.
No cheating checked.
No game turn limit.
No city elimination limit.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
After our first game (it would certainly be possible to have a few games going at once) is started we can discuss a more "extravagent' rule set if we want, but I think Keeping it Simple would be a good starting place.

So without further adue I am going to start the game and send the file on to Stephen.  You should be receiving your e-mails shortly.

BTW I found out it tells you the name of the Civ that goes next:

GE-Raven = Ghandi (India)
Stephen = Mansa Musa
Ferret = Gengis Khan
Lt. Q = Napoleon Dynamite
762 = Hyuana Capac
Mr. Tricorder= Cyrus
Dracho= Cathrine
La'ra= Qin Shi Huang

What's the hold-up?

I hate to sound impatient, but it's been two days since we got this started and I haven't even taken my first turn yet.  I've been checking my email like crazy.  Did someone kill me off in the first turn without telling me about it?
