It was good, but I wasn't paying nearly as much attention to it as if it was an actual game. It almost tied 24 to 24, and no one in the band really wanted to hang around if they decided to go into overtime. We had already done our thing and were all sun-burned. Fortunately, the Maroon team scored a field goal with 13 seconds left on the clock, so we didn't have to worry about it.
It definitely looks like we're going to have a better team this year. I've been among the Steve McGee supporters for pretty much the whole year and knew all along that Reggie McNeal was over-rated. McNeal has a lot of talent and has had a few awesome games, but he has never been a consistent player. He also kept passing to the other team this past year, and you can't have a star quarterback that does that. I doubt he would have been nearly as big if we had lost to No.1 Oklahoma back in 2002. Steve McGee was really impressive this past year in the Oklahoma and t.u. games. Even though we lost both of them, I think those were two of our best games last fall. If it wasn't for our defence's horrible performance during the first half of the OU game, we definitely would have won that one, and we were pretty much the only team that gave t.u. a run for their money. They may have left victorious, but they didn't celebrate until they got back to Austin and recovered their nerves.
Last Saturday was my very last time to march a halftime drill as part of the Aggie Band. It's kind of a strange feeling. This was one of the main things that has defined my college experience, and now it's over. I'm really going to miss it.
