Agreed.  That cover also shows, albeit unintentionally, the  vast difference between the Galaxy and Sovereign classes.

I noted over at the Trek BBS how much that cover resembled a senior class photo from a high school yearbook, with ships like the Ent-D struggling to peak its "head" over the crowd to get in the picture.

I liked the December releases best:

Quote
Rihannsu: The Bloodwing Voyages (December)
By Diane Duane with Peter Morwood
Cover art by Robert Hunt
The call themselves Rihannsu -- the Declared. To the Federation, they are the Romulans. Born in the twilight years of Vulcan's violent and passionate past, they chose to reign free in the unknown reaches of the space rather than serve under the new tyranny of logic.  Now, after millennia of wars and conquests, their empire is decaying from within, and the Rihannsu's finest military officer -- Commander Ael t'Rllailieu of the warbird Bloodwing -- believes she can save her people only by joining forces with her greatest enemy: Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise.  Originally published in four volumes -- My Enemy, My Ally; The Romulan Way; Swordhunt; and Honor Blade -- The Bloodwing Voyages will challenge everything you thought you knew about the Romulans.

   Rihannsu: The Empty Chair (December)
By Diane Duane
Cover art by Tom Hallman
Armed with the revolutionary Sunseed technology, which can destabilize entire stars, a Romulan vessel is warping toward the heart of the Federation. But this offensive comes at a perilous time, as a growing number of Romulan worlds are joining a revolution -- one led by the renegade Commander Ael t'Rllaillieu of the warbird Bloodwing, with the aid of Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise. As the threat to Earth looms ever larger, Bloodwing and Enterprise lead an armada toward the Romulan homeworld for a final reckoning that will decide the future of the Rihannsu people.

Actually it looked more like ships such as the Ent-E trying to get above the Ent-D in the picture.  And of course I picture the Ent-E as a gal with a cross between fashion today and fashion in the 1960s to get a tacky-yet-retro look.  But that's how I feel, so I guess we'll always be in conflict over taste.  To the Ent-D's right is the old man in today's attempt at fashion (that failed, of course).  Below her posing is the beautiful, classical lady (that started it all) wearing classy-yet-tasteful fashion while posing for the picture, and her younger cousin above her and Ent-D (and to their right)... *shrug* I could bore everyone by going on, but I apologize for being boring.

By the way, look at our top-right (Edit: I keep forgetting my lefts and rights again, especially during my dog training sessions.) corner.  At first I thought it was a crude attempt at the Prometheus's ventral side, but could it be the Enterprise-J?  It was featured in an SotL calendar, so could it be that on the main cover?

Aside from that, I'd be interested in the SotL book.

It's been confirmed by the editors that it is indeed the -J in the upper right corner.

So what happened to her deflector dish on the saucer section ala NX-01?  It made me wonder more than I should about it, but I guess both are there anyhow... Remember that 26th-century time ship from "A Matter of Time" [TNG]?  It had no obvious opening panel and it opened up, in a future tech sort-of way.  Maybe her saucer's dish is covered up in a similar way? *shrug* But I guess I'm thinking too much about nothing as always.
