WELLINGTON, N.Z. (AP) - Organizers of a vintage car rally in New Zealand have hired karate experts to protect vehicles from marauding native parrots, a news report said Friday.

About 40 members of a karate club have been enlisted to protect some 140 classic cars due to visit an alpine village near Mount Cook on New Zealand's South Island on Sunday, the New Zealand Press Association reported.

LOL

My sister had a black belt and could climb a tree better than anyone I've ever seen and I'm still betting on the parrots.  There is just no stopping those bird during a bombing run short of a shotgun.  And I'm thinking that a shotgun isn't what they had in mind at a event like that.  I would sure like to see some video of them trying though, that would be some real comedy value there.

The parrots in question are protected species, the black belts are only allowed to scare them not harm them.  All the training in the world and their hands are tied.

I'm still betting on the parrots.

They would do better with a bunch of 8 year olds with airhorns, peashooters and water guns.  Much cheaper too.
