It's not the Motherboard, it's not the Power Supply, IT'S THE FRICKING ON-SWITCH!!!! That's right, the fricking on-switch is broken. Glad I tested that before I started ordering new parts.

PS, does anyone know of a Mother board that support AGP and a Dual-core Interl/AMD chip?

DH, what CPU and MB do you have right now? For an AMD motherboard with an AGP slot, you're looking at either an NVidia nForce3 or a VIA KT800 chipset. All the major MB makers make these. I don't use Intel stuff, but I know VIA, Nvidia and Intel chipsets are available with an APG slot. Shop around on Newegg for something that fits your needs/price range.
VIA makes a stable chipset for AMD and the KT800 pro chipset does support Dual Core, wiith a BIOS update usually involved.
nVidia nForce 3 chipsets are generally great overclockers. If you go the nVidia route, DO NOT INSTALL the nVidia FIREWALL, it's crap and corrupts all DL's.

Running a Pentium IV 2.53 GHz, built this PC in 2002 right before the original "Attack of the Kitties" server. I recently purchased an ATI Radeon X800 All-in-Wonder AGP card that is wonderful. I have however shot myself in the foot with this AGP card as I have tied myself to leagcy hardware, none of the Dual-core Intel boards use AGP, all are PCIe.

If I upgrade soon, the Asus A8V has an AGP slot and I THINK is supports the dual-core chips as it uses the same socket. Intel or AMD are fine by me, performaqnce per dollar spent works aout about the same.

Asus make good boards, as does Gigabyte. I have the Gigabyte K8U, that the wife is using now. Good stable board, so far. Newegg seems to be letting the AGP boards slowly fade from their inventory. The Asrock dual board might be something to consider, with both AGP and PCIEx16.

These are all AMD boards, as I'm more familar with them. At least with AMD, all the chipsets support Dual Core. Is there a particular reason you need Dual Core? Not many app's or games really utilize dual core, ATM. I have an AMD 3800 X2, which runs cool and great for me. With the AMD route, atleast you should be able to use the CPU and memory whenever you have to upgrade to a PCIE video card.

The bad news is that AMD is coming out with a new socket standard within 8 months( give or take), along with DDR2 memory support. Not sure if that is going to be noticeably faster than what is out there now.

This setup has been running XP-SP2 since I built it, I've had no stability problems whatsoever.

I was in the same situation as you with the AGP gfx card. This board let me use my 6800 AGP with the option of upgrading to PCIe later.

That link is a users forum for the board. The board has been known to overclock an Opty 144 to almost 3GHz. (CABNE stepping) Not bad for a CPU that runs 1.8GHz standard.

Understand that, Ben. I only run a mild OC on my rigs. My 3800 X2 and 3200 venive core I run at 2.2, vice the normal 2.0 speed. I read where the Opty's are getting up to 3.0 mhz, some on air, the rest on water cooling.
