KCW Update for Friday Feb 3
« on: February 02, 2006, 09:59:55 pm »
- As of 8PM Eastern on Friday I'll ask DH to unrestrict all of the ships that are currently restricted in the shiplist.
(There should still not be any droners-I believe they were completely removed from teh list)
but Fast Cruisers/ DWl's etc should become available

**If no House leader objects (by PM please) we'll also unrestrict the C7's so people who haven't can get a chance to
fly the second best series of BCH (After the BCHP of course) I'd  prefer (simply to keep hex flipping simple) that C7's only be used for
PVP matches/challenges in neutral hexes~ but any House Leader with any objections or concerns can of course PM me.

-Really not looking for public discourse, if you feel strongly one way or the other about this tell a house leader, they can send me a PM
which depending on the reason (ie "It's dumb " isn't a reason 'it's dumb because..." is) may or may not affect the judgement.

- The "super secret" VP objectives (for those asking) were not sent out simply because I wasn't going to be around constantly to
answer questions about possible misinterpretations and/or conflicts.

What makes you think I'll be home at 8 PM?

I had assumed it would be embarrassing to have to cut your paid time with the "ladies" short
to have to run home and watch BSG, figured you wouldn't go out til after it was over.

As I have even less of a life than DH (I won't even pay), I may be able to do this for you in time if you send me a list of the ships to be unrestricted.

Still no  PM from Hexx, as a acting emergency  House Leader (a position I really did not want) I would expect the courtesy of a reply at the very least before any changes are made.

Don't be silly.
I've never been accused of being courteous, if I sent a Pm to you then I'd have to send a PM to everyone, best to simply post my decision here
and give everyone the answers at teh same time

-The C7's will stay restricted, House Leaders were either against, or indifferent. As I wanted it to be unanimously in favour for it
to go through, they'll stay rare.

The basic ships will be unrestricted include the fast cruisers and ,uhmm the DWL I guess-
FDW won't be as it's simply way OTT in my opinion.
All the droners and carriers were removed from the list.
The few that were missed will NOT be unrestricted.

So basically it's about 2 useful ships- and please note both were going to be released at a point during the server anyway.
(and no, no one but me knew.. the idea that everyone should know everything on a server is silly)

Also I'm curious if these ships will fill the spot in the yards some hosues seem to be having concerning the D7L /D5W's..
teh D5W I can almost understand.. but I'm curious as to why the D7L isn't sharing production space with the D7W..
For all intents and purposes it's a few more toys for PVP (FD7/DWL)

Keep the HDWs reatrricted no matter what.   The PF races do not have donors setup and the fighters will not work.

No.. the HDW's are dumb..after going through the list and seeing how much was pruned out it'll basically
be the FD7K and the DWL...

I think this is a decent compromise as the newly included ships will be the new ships of choice but wont radically alter the flavor, nor give undue advantage to any side.  Not really much of a change at all but a bit of variety.

Actually you had hinted at this, why I had already forgiven you even if you had included more C7s, FDWs etc, although I wouldn't have stayed to watch in that case.  As it is I can live with your decision and continue on the server.

this is a very serious concern I had not thought of, The D5W and D7L not appearing were a pain but one that didn't break the server for my House, as the D7W was the equal of either, the absence of these new additions would definately skew the server greatly in favor of the sides with these ships.  This should be tested before being done if possible, I'd suggst taking an hour or two and pulling the server down checking the shipyards of all houses, if they don't appear in all the yards eliminate them from the shiplist.

They should, neither is anymore a hex flipper than a D7W, and since the D7W is already superior to a FD7K for PvP
really it's simply adding the DWL.

Besides I'm very curious now if the DWL will show up in the yards that the D5W didn't. Wondering if the Fed yards build more
NCC's than NCA's.
Was it only the Fed yards that were missiing the ships? I know I didn't see a D7L in the Kzin yards, but I did see D5W's a plenty, and i wasn't on much so..

EDIT- dunno about holding it down for a time, probably let it run for the weekend and see how the production turns out.
The FD7K is inferior to the D7W- it's not a huge mismatch but the D7W has the edge, so that shouldn't be an issue if it doesn't show uo.
The D7W can also match the DWL- (although at a slight disadvanatge due to the Dis arcs)so again not a huge PvP issue. I'm simply curious
if there's some hidden production code thing in the Fed yards so the others aren't getting built.

D7L is out of date.   D7W replaces it.

D7LR should have a YLA of like 30 something (unless you R'd it out or changed it)

Don't let 1 v 1 matchups cloud your thinking on balance, there is the 2 v2 and 3 v 3 aspects as well and the differences between the ships plays even more of a role.

I don't
FD7's only adds the ability to speed and tractor, without plasma ,cariers or true droners it's use is limited
A C7,D7W.FD7K fleet should still be at a disadvantage to a C7,2xD7W fleet
The DWL is a bit of a different story, multiple ships does increase the advantage of the expanded arcs, but
a fleet of D7W's is still close.

This was the one I was referring to, and close but not quite is enough to determine victory in about 75% of the PvP I've been involved with this server as a solo pilot, with a fleet it would likely be more, so this is a major issue.

Server will be rebooted at 8:00 PM EST (1.5 hours from now), with the FD7K and DWL unrestricted.

I will back up the database so that if the results are not as desired we can rollback to the previous shiplist where it left off if need be.

The DWL's have been produced in plenty for House S'uh'nih, by the way.
