Just something regarding KCW that struck me
« on: February 03, 2006, 06:03:58 am »
A PvP House could potentially win the server with a losing PvP record vs every "enemy house".

The same is of course possible for a territorial House, but that is kinda their purpose.

Just struck me as strange that there is no penalty for losing battles, other than giving points to your foes, but if you distributed them across several foes you could win with a losing record vs each.

Too lkate to change it now, but just interesting to note, and something to consider for any future setup involving such VCs.

A very valid point, and one to think of in the future, but I'm sure we could force it to make sense in a roleplay fashion.

For example, when the warriors of the feuding houses gather around the bloodwine vats in the evening and sing songs of their victories, your captains will have more songs to sing than any other house's.  You'll be seen as having won more glory while the other houses will be recognized for their lack of aggression.

Life and death are but two possible outcomes of combat, with neither bringing shame if they are done well.  It's the glory that counts.

You would think that a house with so many deaths would have fewer singers IMHO.

The captains may die, but their stories survive.

(Work with me here.  I'm behind you on future Civil War servers, especially those with a much more feudal society like the Lyrans or Kzinti.  But I figure we can make this one work well in the server we are in the middle of, for a society like the Klingon society we see Captain Sisko drinking with between battles in the DS9 civil war.)

OK try this one then.

One side showing a vast propensity for death in combat prevails due to secret backing from the Kzinti Hegemony and the United Federation of Planets who realize that a House so unsucessful in combat is less of a threat.   :P
