Quote from Chessmess and STGU:

More Information:

player action/strategy up to 8-players via x-box live or pc iinternet .
publisher Bethesda game studios, developer Mad Doc software.
release date says September 2006.
Its supposed to span all shows, with a single player campaign.
The campaign is split into 3 time periods ent, tos, tng incluging ds9 and voyager and based on the next generation show "congagion". An ancient species called the Iconians that have time travel technology and I guess a Vulcan scientist called Sovac has gone mad and is trying to create a logical utopia. Using the technology of the Iconians. He makes some bad choices in alliances (borg) which creates some kind of Borg/Iconinan abomination. Finishing with all the captians from all the timelines working together in the climax.
You start with the Nx-01 then add up to 3 of 4 ships to you fleet. Earning command points that you can use to upgrade, or purchase new ships.

And, some sharpened screenshots - Who's the daddy... ;)

The magazine you need to look for:

A short blurb inside said magazine:

And, a small screenshot...

The four most powerful men in the galaxy:

The President of the United Federation of Planets...
The Chancellor of the Klingon Empire...The Praetor of the Romulan Star Empire...

...and the Captain of a Federation Starship...

The idea of ALL the Star Trek eras is great! Looking forward..

I think the TNG epsiode you refer to was Contagion

Here's a link to the episode story..

Gotta love TNG!

I'm...skeptical, for numerous reasons, and let's just leave it at that.

Edit: Does anyone know if P81 still works at Mad Doc or is he still at SOE?

The Ambassador looks good in that screen shot.  Will this be one of these MMOG's or something like SFC that you can play by yourself?

This is something you can play by yourself.  There is an MMOG in the works, but it is a separate project.

Actually, it looks better than SFC3, to me.  I'm glad it's an early shot, though.  The phasers don't exactly thrill me, and the shield effect needs work.  Other than that, though, it's looking pretty darn good.  In the end, I just hope they make it very moddable (as a lot of Trek games should be).  At least then, the life of the game could be extended after folks have breezed through the single player and multi experiences.

One thing I've always wondered about, especially in the case of, say EF, is what would the viability of "episode" expansions be.  Meaning that they use the same engine, tell a new story, but charge a small fee.  I mean comic books are several dollars now, and they aren't interactive.  If you could get a good story, but use all the same engine, effects, etc. for a a little more I think it would be worth it.  I'd certainly pay for a single player experience like CoD gave when it came out, without adding anything new, really (ok, maybe one new unit or something) but don't charge 15 buck, I would say sub 10 dollar range.  Not really part of this discussion I guess, but I've always wondered how that would work out (of course if they did that they'd want to squash any ability for modders to do it on their own and offer free stories I would guess, although what a marketing tool to say that the best modded storylines will be picked up for a future retail release, and you get a small share of the booty)  It does relate in that with an all era game, imagine the single player (and maybe multiplayer) stories you could tell without really expanding the engine that much. :D

If this game is even close in quality to SFC...

I'll probably bite the bullet and get an Xbox-360.  it'd be cheaper than getting a new gaming rig.

Saw the GI preview last week when my mag arrived.  Impressive looking, but how will it actually play is important

STGU has transcribed the full article.

Plus, there's more scans.  This may be the first Trek game in a good long while where people won't be clamoring to replace the ingame models.

Never mind that last post; they took down the article and the pics.

Part of me hopes that this turns out like that vaporware game from Red Storm called UFS Vanguard.  Essentially, it was an RTS with a lot of tactical elements like SFC thrown in, and perhaps, just perhaps, Legacy will be something like that.

The whole idea of playing SFC with a joystick is NOT appealing.

Hopefully it'll get ported to the Revolution (as Nintendo's controller can be used as a wireless mouse, OR a pointer, either work), otherwise I'll get it on PC.

I for one am looking forward to Legacy on the PC. For some reason I was never a fan of Star Trek on Consoles - probably because I couldn't mod it, lol. The fact that Legacy is Multi-Era is fascinating to me. UAW is Multi-era, and I did a Multi-Era for EAW as well. For some reason SFC3 was just not as much fun as 1, 2, and OP although I fire 3 up once in a while.

Here's part of an Interview with me on Star Trek: Gamers in 2004:

10: Moving off from the modding scene for a few questions, the

hardtalk series of interviews give people a chance to voice there

views and opinions on the trek game franchise. Paramount will no

doubt be reading the interviews, especially since the name of Chris

Jones is one of the most respected names in modding trek gaming.

First off, if you had the chance to go back to the early days of trek

gaming, back in the days of Klingon Academy for instance, and

Paramount gave you the opportunity to change trek gaming by releasing

and designing games which YOU thought would be a good idea, what games

in the current trek fold like Armada, EF, SFC and the likes would you

take and expand upon, and why?

I would have brought out a Next Generation game a bit sooner, or perhaps a Multi-era game. Most everything at the time of Klingon Academy was Kirk/Spock based. That’s fine, but most Trek gamers were watching TNG, DS9, and Voyager at the time. To be honest, Armada didn’t hit me right, I think because the ships were just too small. If we could have taken the original SFC2: EAW, and made it an engaging story line set in multiple eras, much like the ‘Generations’ movie, it would have worked. The early era could be TOS, mid era TMP (motion picture), and late era as TNG. I also would have investigated the 3D idea for the engine. If done right and promoted right, it could grasp all Trekkers, old and new. This is what I’ve done with the big Multi-Era mods; The one for EAW online here at STGD, and the recent OP release of ‘The Universe At War’.

Did someone who makes decisions on games read this? I can't help but wonder.
