They said not to miss the first ten minutes of the episode, and they weren't lying. Two major characters from the past season get whacked with a third hovering near death. Jack Bauer getting framed for killing the man he's nearly given his own life to protect over and over again. The First Lady from Hell. Geeky chick Chloe finally getting some action. What's not to like?

I loved it, can't wait for tonight. I watched the Transporter 2 just before 24 came on, which made for a really nice lead in.

It's a guilty pleasure for me, but all four hours made for some real on-edge viewing. The story line with Derek was really well-done as well. The actor did a fairly good job with his expressions at different points and really conveyed the change of snotty, rebellious teen to shell-shocked survivor fairly well.

I thought it was excellent, but I have one question:

If only Palmer, Michelle, Tony, and Chloe knew Jack was still alive, how'd the terrorists find out? Why else try to frame a dead man?

Well, when you really think about it, CTU is the place the enemy MUST penetrate in order to successfully carry out an attack.

This time though, it was the President of the United States (or at least the President's friend and advisor) who penetrated CTU.

I like "24", but when I think about it, sometimes the techbabble gets as bad as startrek.

I watched the A&E rerun today and realized that the season 4 security guy that ordered Jacks death...

Is the season 5 guy... who ordered EVERYONE'S DEATH!!

Good point...I liked tonight's developments with Lynn (or is it Glen?) losing his cool and freaking out...the first lady's solution to the ethical problem...the president should be in that limo with them.

Nonsense. This week's episode was good and I don't think Jack killed anyone. 24 is like sex, part of the fun is the buildup to Jack's orgasms of violence.

Interesting way of saying it but it is a good point, I like to see the build up knowing that Jack is going to kill people. It is one of the many things that keep me coming back.

I feel like a junkie who just got a slight overdose after two hours of 24. I was wondering how long it would take Jack to shoo the guy's wife in the leg...and when it didn't work on breaking the guy, I figured out who the culprit is behind this season's madness.

My bet: The Vice President is making a power grab from a weak, spineless boob of a President.

The gas attack on CTU was agonizing to watch...but Edgar deserved his fate after he sent the girl to her death without sending security to back her up...

I doubt it; that was Season 2's plot.

Edgar whined too much for my like....Besides, as any experienced CTU agent knows...if there's something odd happening INVESTIGATE with guns drawn...

Edgar had enough experience he should have sent an armed detail with her down there (they would have all died, but maybe Jack could have gotten there in time to save the day).
