Question about Robotech Models
« on: January 02, 2006, 02:55:03 pm »
I love the Robotech models that are being uploaded at Battleclinic.  However I have a question.  Several of the models show up as new uploads on several differnt days.  Are they corrected models or is this just a fluke.  In other words, do I need keep downloading the model to get the latest version?

The answer is no once ya grab 'em it's fine. The only thing that's changing is the history and suggested stats. I'm trying to get the most accurate stats for everyone, so I start with the Macross Infopedia, if I can't find the info I need I started scouring the web to get the ship history and stats.  ;D. Sorry about the comfusion, I posted the first 20 without grabbing EVERYTHING I need in the folders just because I wanted to get them released. I'm gonna get everything straight now prior to releasing the next batch.  ;)

Well it doesn't have to have all the greeblies but more so the overall shape and design would suit me just fine  ;D. There are just soooooo many cool Robotech designs still yet to be made and I'll try to help ya anyway I can. BTW if there are multiple weapons you can create in that game you're working with, I've started to do the robotech missiles...

OUTALANCE SHIPYARDS
"Recluse" Short range anti-mecha rocket propelled grenade

Owner : Robotech Expeditionary Force
Type  :  Short range anti-mecha rocket propelled grenade.
Service history  :  2028- , REF Army and Marines.
Length  :  15 cm.
Diameter  :  6 cm.
Wingspan  :  none.
Weight  :  4.3 kg.
Warhead  :  AP high explosive.
Weight/yield  :  2 kg.
Propulsion  :  Rocket booster and sustainer engine.
Guidance  :  Combined passive laser and active radar.
Max speed  :  450 kph.
Range  :  0.8 km.
-------------
The Recluse is the culmination of 80 years of development on grenades and grenade launchers.
Equipped with both a booster and sustainer engine the Recluse can maneuver during its entire flight, and the guidance system is accurate up to 20 cm even at the maximum range.
Fired mainly from the chest launchers, the Recluse could be found anywhere with the REF or its allied forces.
Although reliable, simple to use, and accurate, the Recluse remains a small projectile with a small warhead.
Although usually capable of taking out an Iigaa, it is less capable against the larger Gurab, and almost useless against the Gamo and Gosu.
Recent trends therefore favor larger missiles, and the Recluse is bound to be retired in the near future.
-------------
Suggested use : Replacement for Stock Missile

I'm not shure, If I can do the Attack version with this newest Mesh. For the most part everything should be in place that is needed for it. It just might take some time for me to move the parts around accordingly and double check my UVmapping & Tight up some mesh areas.
Its possible, the more I think about it... I guess we will have to wait and see thou. ;)

I remember watching a few episodes of Robotech when I was a kid.  Got a real charge out of watching the show, even though it seemed too target kids as its primary audiance, most of the stories were a little more Adult orientated.

As for the Model, ya that is really looking good.  But didn't it have the "Arms" slanted away from the ship when its NOT in Robot form?  Its been a while since I've seen the show so I'm not sure.

The "Arms" only slanted after it was refit with A.R.M.D. carriers.

Acually it was only the movie version that had the A.R.M.D carriers as arms on the original series the two arms were comprised of the Prometheus and the Deadelous wich were ships that got caught up in a low altitude space fold

Just by an off chance I thought I would see how far my old SDF-1 went to. Seems China is about as far as it went.

They've up-dated some of the old texturing and added a few more details.

eh,  They made it pointy? plus those red RDF symbols are distracting (and pointed wrong, those are shoulder joints, at lest they should be on side so in storm attacker mode they would be right...) minor nitpicks :D

Come on AA, dont let Trashman be the only guy with a Storm Attacker mode!

Hey MP, would you let me use those missiles you made?

Also just a suggestion, how about making Battloid & Guardian modes out of the veritechs (you know you want to) :D

Lastly , I just got the new Ikazuchi mesh from AA, didn't notice it in the clinic files... make sure you bug him about getting this!
Turrets have to be added still, but regardless this is a great improvement!

If I'm going to do a storm attack mode, it will be with the newer SDF-1. Not sure how much of the Cruiser Mode I can use since I didn't model it with that in mind.

Would love to get that sent to you but it seems this new peoject has inspired me a little bit. I've spent the better part of this past week working on it. Soon I'm going to have to sit down and animate it which will be a chore. I'm one of a few DEV's working on a Robotech: MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online) So I'm going to be fairly busy, if anyone is intrested in helping out please head on over. www.robotechmmo.com

That's beautiful, then I realised... He has no thighs!!! (Screams) Aaaaaah!

If that's under 5k can I get thet in a combat pose? They's be tiny as hell BUT woudl be fun to see Invid's picking them off.

I hope the server issues are resolved soon, that project sounds very exciting! Plus the buzz might bring out more contacts for various projects (as the RT movie one is simply way too high CGI).

Umm, he's slightly over 5K. More around 10,380 polys.

Shamefull WallPaper  :P

Started to learn Bone Structures today so I had to play around with the different poses I cold make with this model. Eventually I should be able to animate it.
