I haven't had Popeyes in a very long time (they don't have one here, can you believe it?), but from what I remember it was fairly good if you got the spicy stuff.

I prefer to do it myself...fried chicken, homemade dumplings, mashed 'taters, and some sort of vegetable.

But then, I love to cook

LOL... guess you'd have to try the kfc in the one horse town I live in... changing the deep fry oil is a new years tradition.
A three piece meal is a sure fire cure for constipation though...
What was the chicken that kfc used to have... tender roast? Now that I did like, didn't have to chew through an inch of batter to get to the meat.

KFC all the way.  I tried Popeyes a couple of times and the batter was gross.

Speaking of A&W, I loved it as a kid when they brought the food out to your car and served the root beer in glass mugs.  Great onoin rings too.  I hadn't seen one in decades until one opened nearby so I tired it.  It was a huge dissapointment, typical fast food chain burgers, paper cups, not much selection, standard drive-thru, and the onion rings were the armor plated, prefrozen type like Burger King's.   :P

There's a Roy Roger's chicken place?  We had a Kenny Roger's Roasters around here at one point (the taste wasn't worth the price in my book).

Btw, they still have an old A&W or two around here in Oregon.  There is one at the coast with the old drive intercom/menu's and the root beer (we had one in Eugene when I was a kid, but it's now a chinese restaurant) is served in frosty glass mugs!  Mmmmm.  Most of the ones in my area, though are paper cup versions, but every time I go to the coast I make a stop for some rootbeer.

Church's Chicken is better, so I voted for "Other", but you have to admire the side items at Popeye's, and the chicken is prety good too.

I used to dig Church's too when we had one.  Mmmm, I gotta have some chicken now.  How can you not like chicken?  I guess I'm just a fan of most meats, though.  I miss living in Alaska where there was a lot of variety floating around all the time.  People giving you a little of this or that because they had extra (I loved it when we had friends living across the bay from Homer.  Fresh crab and shrimp all the time.  MMMM!)

Charlie's Chicken... local chain here in the midwest... yumm..

Bojangles used to have Cajun coleslaw that was awesome, but their spicy chicken, while tasty, would give you a bad case of ass lava the next day.  :o

Gotta go with Popeye's.  The thing is, you gotta get the spicy.  The mild has no seasoning to speak of, but the spicy is da bomb.

Doh . sorry I missed this EmeraldEdge, Years ago when Sirgod was just a little Godling, My mother decided that Banquent Boxed chicken was so good, that I would eat it every day for Lunch and Dinner for almost a year. now in Mothers Defence, she's insane, and I was only 8. to this day, I avoid Chicken like I would a Kid with Measles.

Kenny Rogers wasn't fried, it weould be like comparing Boston Market to KFC so its not in the same category. But on the other hand Kenny Rogers was much better than Boston Market. Growing up in Phoenix there was a fried chicken place called Pioneer and that was the best fried chicken of the day, but I would have to go now with KFC, especially if they would bring back there spicy recipe. Living in Phoenix we see and eat things that other markets don't.

Mary Brown's is the bomb...though it is an Atlantic Canada chain (with some spots in Alberta).  Greasy as hell, but tasty!

I do like Popeyes though, and KFC is crap.

I don't like either. I prefer homemade chicken. Not something that has been deep fat fried in 10 gallons of whale oil. Jezz, eat one piece of KFC and the whole works are greased up like one of Judges boy toys.

Vomits just thinking about it. bah.

now back to the chicken, Popeyes chicken is inferior BUT the sides rule. The beans and rice is very good, but I like KFC flavors over Popeyes.  the only time I have ever had " bad " KFC is if the store itself is bad, some have lax managmenet, they let the chicken set out too long, if it aint fresh or sits under the heat lamps too long  it can get booty.

KFC includes a 'mystery' piece when you order the whole bird. Everyone else's bird is 8 pieces, KFC's is 9.

My lunch order:
Boston Markets chicken
Popeyes red beans and rice
Browns chicken for Biscuits and gravy

MMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmm    good !!!

Almost forgot about the 'cajun sparkle'.. gotta have it on yer red beans fer sure !

Why don't you guys ask the NYC Dept. of Health what goes on in the kitchens of some of the world's classiest restaurants?

Yep they fined a 5 star resterant in Boston because of mice turds and it being unclean, I forgot the name though, let me see if I can find it.

cant find it it was a while ago, all resterents can get bagged for code violations.

The resterent is supposed to chuck the old chicken after a while and make a new batch, like in life, some resterants take short cuts, and illnesses take place, but every food joint is like that, some are worse than others.

I have had eatten bad KFC before. bad managers take short cuts and thus make bad product.

I still say Popeyes beats the Hell outta KFC any day.  It's possible that I might find some other chicken restaurant that I would like better than Popeyes, but it hasn't happened yet (although Chicken Express comes close if only because of their sweet tea).

I know of a bad KFC, but I've never eaten there.  All you have to do is walk in there and you can tell it's filthy and lousy.
