Texans, bend over, you thought high energy prices were over?
« on: December 24, 2005, 10:55:44 am »
Just got my electric bill with a nice notice, it applies to everyone in TX, not just us folks here in Austin.

http://www.austinenergy.com/About%20Us/Newsroom/Reports/largeCustomerFuelChargeMtg.pdf

The notice I got was much shorter than that, but to meet the demand for natural gas prices (Damn I wish we would just run out of oil and natural gas now, bet we go alternative REAL quick!  ;D) for the electric generating plants, Austin rates will go up by about 10% beginning in Jan 2006. Other TX utilities are raising rates by as much as 30% or more! Man o man, if you live in those areas, you are SCREWED!

We are going green, and we also own our power plant, I guess that is why Austin Energy's base electric rates have not changed since 1994.  ;) We will NOT be dependent on oil and gas ripoff criminals and corporations.

Notice the ONLY oil company that is doing any real R&D and investing in alternative energy is BRITISH PETROLEUM? GE is not stupid either, they know the oil companies are like dying dinosaurs.

The panels cost about $25,000 for a typical family home, but government subsidies can pay for up to 50 percent of that. I love it when the govt. gives grants for saving energy! Now why can't the govt. start taxing the daylights out of gas guzzler owners?

This year, solar-energy companies are on track to rake in an estimated $12 billion in revenue worldwide, up 50 percent from 2004, according to Rogol. By 2010, he expects that figure to more than triple to $40 billion.

Wow, 40 BILLION dollar industry in just four years! I'll whip it out and let those oil and natural gas companies blow me!  ;) This is great not only for us south and southwest folks, but think of the disposable income it could put in peoples' pockets in sunny areas like Latin America!
