Please take a moment to thank

I'd just like to ask everyone to take a moment to tank those selfless people
who really do put the game ahead of their personal desires.

I sent a PM around to the House leaders/VIP's asking to list
their order of preference for the house interfaces for KCW.
I knew it would be a tough choice- so I mentioned (in hte small print)
that if they didn't care to simply list one house eight times.

Much to my surprise THREE of the house leaders used this option to
volunteer their house to have whatever I felt like giving them.

It is truly players like yourselves that make this
game more enjoyable

 :notworthy: :notworthy:

Special Kudos also to Chuut for volunteering house S'uh'nih
to use the Mirak interface!

We kinda hev to unfortunately (8 houses)

Chuut has assured me that the calibre of PVP pilots
in house Swhatver is so high that they could not possibly be effected
by the H&R issues. That it would be beneath them to actually have to
sully their hands with such mundanity, that they won't even need troops
as none of their opponents will even be able to crack a shield on their ships.

He seems so sincere, I'd hate to have to call him a liar...

I was sincere, defeating Klingons with a Mirak interface has never been a big problem in the past even with the hit and run handicap.

But, in the interest of fairness I think EVERY house should use the Mirak interface  ;D

Can't we just use the pirate interfaces? To be honest, I have a hard time getting in an appropriately Klingon mood without that red interface (and a fog machine running too), but the idea of another house running with it seems all the more profane....

Pirate interface means (afaik) we have to use the pirate slots
Which means
-we have the possibilty for engine doubling- it can be disabled but I don't think
 it can be checked for
-the map will allow you to rearm/repair at any planet

'side I hates the pirate interface I does..

In any event -to be honest (for once) I'm not at all convinced giving someone the Klingon interface is ANY sort of advantage
other than the fact that a person is used to that interface.
Given the number of people we have flying who are, so cleverly described as "race whores" I think that pretty much any interface would
suffice.
The only one (as mentioned) that actually penalizes anyone (afaik) is the Kzin , simply because the H&R are broken
(not sure if they simply don't work or targte teh wrong systems).

Problem with the Kzin interface is that the pause command for hit and runs doesn't work.  So if you want to be able to peload the tarets the marines will automatically launch at first opportunity, the only way to send then when you wish to is manually select the targets each time then deselect them one by one manually after you are done.

There arnt any Mirak ships running around with 7 transporters. Yes its a big problem.

This is a no brainer. If the mirak can be switched with the Lyran which is AI do it.

Course, using Pirate interface is better. Here are Hexx's objections:

-we have the possibilty for engine doubling- it can be disabled but I don't think

Engine doubling can be turned off. Yes you can check it because if someone re enables it, there is an audible trigger sound in game when its used. Unless you have your sound turned off, when someone engine doubles, you can immediately tell.

Having the ability to repair at any base/planet is a good idea. Isnt the IKN neutral? If so, there should be repair and resupply points everywhere. I think its a great idea.

I don't think the Klingon is an advantage, it's just an aesthetic thing...hate listening to Frog voices, or that "Good show! His/her tri-genitaled hermaphriarch-majesty's royal navy, at your service", etc. Fed interfaces make me sick, and the Gorn one makes me feel like I'm playing Quake in the mid-90s, thinking, "Hey, this is really brown..."

But can't pirates resupply on other pirate bases?
ie I'm attacking hex 10,10 belonging to the KBF
KBF drafts me, can't I resupply & repair on their base?

Who said it belongs to the KBF? Mb ALL naval yards and facilities belong to the IKN. The warring houses just pay rent.

Sorry Hexx, but I agree with Dizzy. Giving the Lyran UI to an AI race and making a player empire use the Mirak interface seems ridiculous. I respectfully ask that you re-consider.

If there is an AI race then it would be really, really nice if you could put the Mirak interface there.  If it absolutely cannot be done and someone *has* to have the Mirak interface, then I suppose I'll deal.  (I'll whine, I'll moan, I'll bitch, and I'll be a grumpy Gorn, but I'll deal.)

To be sure, my issue with the Mirak UI has little to do with the bug, though that may bother others.  I just find it the ugliest thing since Raymond Bur tried to squeeze into Tonya Harding's thong underwear and ran all over the stage at the Jerry Lewis telethon.  Lots of buttons on the UI are just plain wrong, and my eyes bleed after looking at it for more than a few seconds.

As for the H&R pause button being broken, maybe its really for the best.  These are Klingon warriors!  What are they doing sitting around on the transporter pads "pausing" when they should be out killing people and breaking things?  Standing around makes them grumpy.

They go home crying about it to their mothers, too.  Oh!  you should see the complaints I get at the annual Parent/Commander Association meetings.  These parents all seem to think that their children are perfect little angels who can do no wrong, and they have absolutely no respect for my strategic plans.  They never stop and think that maybe I know what I'm doing with that pause button, and maybe their munchkins are just whiney little spoiled brats.

"My little angel came home crying!"
"My little baby wants to harm humans!"
"My little angel wants to maim Mirak!"
"My little baby wants to rape Hydrans!"   :skeptic:

They are all into imediate gratification and never saying "no" to their children.  If I try one little bit of strategy I never hear the end of it.  The only time I ever get any thanks is when the Klinks are pressed into service fighting Gorn.  Then it's all, "Oh, Mr. S'Cipio.  I don't want my little angel to have to get into hand-to-hand with the big mean lizard.  Please keep up the good work with your pause button!"

Pfffft!!!!  Forget this public Deep Space Fleet stuff.  I want to get these little Klinks some vouchers so that I can command them in a private fleet.  Preferably a Catholic one.  Then I'd teach these little pansy warriors some discipline!.
