just to post this review:

Planned for nearly 10 years the UFP had long desired to build a star base that was as self sufficient as possible.  With the eruption of the Dominion Wars the project was placed on the back burner, with only a handful of advisor's, technitions and engineers continuing the work.  The unusual size of the base provided more than enough space for all areas of Star Fleet interests in science, medical, exploration and others as well.  Adding a fully functional space dock for repair and construction as well seemed to be the only thing lacking in the over all scheme of the design and was eventually included.  The first of its type StarBase 777, a Viking class, represented a new era of the Federations determination to return to space exploration.  Even though the outpost is  as heavily armed as DS-9, all torp launchers are neatly tucked away unless an emanate threat constitutes their use.  The base is used in those rare places where a distant, but strong and resourceful out post is needed in the most remote corners of Federation Space.  It's formal christening was observed 3 years after the Dominion War.

That looks awesome! that would take at least 10 years to build, though, It's massive! How does it compare in size to Earth Spacedock?

if ya look closely you will see three sets of "docks" underneath it.  Each one of those docks will hold 4 Galaxy class Star ships  (two on each side) for construction.  (yup ...  she's a biggie alright ...  that's why only very few would ever be built. )  They are used only in the most extreme of circumstances ...  in very remote areas  where class M planets would not be found, or where stations like DS-9 are needed.

That means room for at least 10 and possibly 12 inside.

That's a lot of firepower, buddy. I'd be scared to ask what the recomended specs for SFC:OP are. :o

I've always hated Fed starbases. They all look like big jelly fishes. But this one's a good looking jelly fish, if you like that sorta thing. Whoever said all fed SB's had to copy the design of the one orbiting earth?

Alright guys  its finally ready for release  a low poly version of the Starbase 777 for use in game .

the original weighed in at just under 20,000 polies  this release version has been cut down to just 9,280 polies

Thanks for the honest evaluation.  I knew there was a slight chance that was the case,  but not to what degree.  That said ...  it should also be noted that the average window here is larger than most simply due to the size of the base.  In other words they are larger ...  because they CAN be.

The entrances are large enough for more than one Galaxy class to pass through simutaneously without fear of collision.  (Though this would only be practiced in an extream or emergancy situation.  The idea is ...  it CAN be done)

I will eventually redo the window maps.  (Though not just right now).  Some of the windows will still be larger.  There are MANY observation rooms scattered through out the entire base.
