Braga also done with "Threshold..."
« on: November 24, 2005, 10:18:47 pm »
...since, according to TrekToday, CBS just cancelled it.  ;)

What can I say--the dude's on a roll, and it couldn't happen to a more deserving hack.  Well, since Berman isn't currently doing anything...   ;D

And it happened!  Wow.  When you wish upon a star...  I feel bad wishing ill upon someone, but people just need to realize what's up with these guys.  They need to be dropped for a long time, until their rehashed ideas haven't been played for so long that they seem new again (could they be dead by then?).  Unfortunately this will probably mean that they will start by slowly saying that they have an idea for something Trek, then Paramount will pick them up and we'll end up right back where we were.

Unfortunately ....   this is probably an accurate assessment.

I was hoping that it would not be canceled if for no other reason than to keep this knot head busy.

RATS !

Well, that's a wrinkle I admittedly hadn't thought of...  ;)  but since he and Berman have both said they're done with Trek anyway (aside from Berman's involvement with the alleged Trek XI project that seems to be going nowhere), I'm not going to get too worried about it...

The show bit when I saw it.  Some psycho guys chasing some scientist people.  Whoop-dee-doo!!!  If you have the entire province of imagination and the sci-fi genre to draw upon and the best thing you can come up with for yout initial show is a stalker plot line, you deserve to be cancel.  This sci-fi flurry on network television (Invasion, Threshold, Surface, etc) can only be a bad thing for sci-fi.  Bad TV that happens to be sci-fi will paint sci-fi with the broad brush of being mediocre quality and a loser with the public.  I am guessing that it is the other network's reaction to the successes of NBC with the Sci-Fi channel, StarGate, BSG, etc.

No one is talking about how bad the program is ...  ( sorry you had to vent for no reason) ..  The only point being made was that if it kept Braga happy ....  and OUT OF TREK  .. then Trek fans could feel a bit of relief.

Don't be surprised if you don't see his ugy face pop up again in the near future.

I always figured this years crop of Alien shows had more to do with the success of Lost last year.  Afterall, the alien shows aren't really ships flying around, people with laser guns, etc.  They are sort of like "ooh, there is some mystery out there.  It's weird, what's it going to be?" ala Lost's island, aren't they? I must admit, I only watched the premiere of surface and 1 and 1/2 episodes of invasion and about a minute and a half of Threshold, so I'm not certain on that, but it sure seems like they are trying to keep everything on the unknown mystery side from the few ads I've seen.  I would think that if they were trying to mimic the success of SG or BSG (which we know that's about all they can really do anymore, it seems, is mimic) then you would have shows with space ships, lasers, etc.
