I hope this gives ya a good idea of what we are working on ...   the mesh is 95% done ...  just a few tweaks.

Now THAT looks like a KLINGON battleship. It's sleek, it's vicious-looking... to borrow a phrase from one of La'ra's stories:

"She looks like she wouldn't even stop to kill you before she ate you." :flame:

I always thought that the Taldren Klingon BB and DN models looked bulky, blocky, and awkward. This model remidies those issues nicely. It gives the proper impression of size by looking at how big everything is compared to the warp nacales, but it doesn't loose the smooth, sexy lines that the Klingons gave their ships.

Excellent work!

Ya know what's funny..

those were my exact thoughts on the situation.  I dunno if this is the best solution, or addresses the matter as best it could be.  This is my first Klingon model form scratch.  (It's not a bash).  IMHO Klingon ships were as you said ..  "sleeker" ...  most that I've seen were way too bulky.  I think that the ones used in the Taldren mods were actually from Interplays Klingon Academy.  I hope to have AV check the proportionate sizing with the other BB's we've got under way was well.

The more feed back I get ...  the better we can do on future Klingon models.

(Man ..  I wish I had the copies of Azels Klingon designs ...  some of them were pretty darn cool)

 ;D

If I may, this is very interesting to me.

It is my hope that this can have an aft torpedo... perhaps something different like maybe 2 forward and 2 aft and maybe throw in an aft hangar bay (minimum of a texture maybe?).

I expect to be downloading this.

Pretty cool Buzz, just a thought, instead of having that second set of nacelles floating under the wings like that. why not place them in tandem with the 2 original ones  like this ....[][]  sec hull [][] ? Just a thought.

I've thought about it ...  just not 100% ..

It's an easy fix to change ...

IMHO the textures will either make or break this one !

Or maybe an inverted-V ( /\ ) double nacelle pylon at the end of the wing where there's just the one now?  (If that makes any sense...)

...or another option on the nacelles might be to just have one set of beefier nacelles??  Just throwing around ideas.  Great looking job Buzz.  WTG

I really appreciate everyones input...  REALLY !

I have thought about the larger "beefier" types ..  but I'm afraid that might take away from the proportion of the rest of the model.  By using 4 std sized nacelles it helps with the size/proportion review (if that makes any sense).  Right now I'm leaning more toward the 4/tandem arrangement ....  or the one currently depicted.  The main thing I want to avoid is the "bulky" mass on the back of the ship.  IMHO that just takes away from the Klingon design.

I still have a couple of tweaks to hammer out before turning it over to AV for a texture map.  BTW...  Please note:  I started out trying to do a bash of of a D-7.  The mesh we had on file for a D-7 (and sent to AV for converting to a wings program ..  ) was made in such a way that we could NOT use ANY of it.   Sooo   we made our own.  This mesh (and the new Titan) is 100% ours ..  nothing borrowed.

I 'm trying to get this and the Feddie BB's done ..  (and  Klingon DN ) ...  so hopefully it will be ready for the next major SFC-OP server.

(It can be used in any  of the SFC- games when released ....  but I know you are partial to OP )

Buz, you know that you're gonna have to try your hand at a Birdie next, don't you? ;)

BOP ..  ?

(Somehow I knew it was a matter of time before someone suggested that ...)

That one may have to wait just a bit...

Not a BOP... just a Rom in general. I'd liketo see your take on an original Rom design.

Hey Buzz looking at the WIP again. I noticed you have the disruptors on the top of the "head". I suggest also under the head and on the base of the neck near the sec hull.

If you're still looking for ideas on the second set of warp nacelles:

Add them, on angled wings, to the boom connector.  Basically, take the boom / body connector and build it out some to resemble a mini-D7 wing with the warps there...

Dunno ...

For the time being I'm leaning toward leaving it as it is ...  The only other solution that I am partial to is making a "mini-wing" and still mounting it in the same location ...  just simply extending it away from the main body a tad.

BTW..  thanks for the input

well guys ...  for better or worse ...  here is a WIP update of the mesh now sent to AV for the texture map.

You will note a few changes in the design.  It is my intention to release a smaller version (less the new under carriage) as a possible DN as well.

At any rate ....

As soon as AV gets this one done with the MAP I will get right to doing the textures.  I may even post pone the Iowa Class  (already WIP) in order to get this one done.
