The File from HELL!!!
« on: November 21, 2005, 10:02:23 pm »
I have a program from our friends as ESPN that I can't delete. I have tried and tried without any luck. It is really pissing me off since I keep getting error messages when it tries to cross my firewall.

The file is called DIGServices.exe

It is located at C:|programfiles\ESPNRuntime

It is write protected, but I can't seem to unprotect it and delete it.

Can someone PLEASE help me.  I am getting error message all the time. I've told my firewall to block access, but it keeps trying  >:(

If there is no uninstaller and no info from ESPN...

Have you tried deleting it in safemode?

If it says "File in use" when you try to delete it.
Open a Command Prompt.
Get into the directory the file is in.
CTRL + ALT + DEL
Look in the processes tab and see if the program is running, if so Click it, then End Task.
Now try to delete the file.

If it still wont delete
Click "explorer.exe" and end task
then try to delete the file

To get your UI back,
Click File -> New Task
type explorer.exe
hit enter.

If that doesnt work, i dont know what to suggest.
Thats how i delete any stubborn files i run into.

Have you tried running msconfig, and preventing it from loading at startup (requires reboot to finish)?

If MrCue's suggestions don't work, PM me.  I can either help you get rid of it remotely or mail you a CD that will let you do it.
