There are some faults I have with it. Namely the registry number; It's too bunched up to the point of overlapping, and the name's outline seems not apparent enough. I especially noticed this when I compared it with
this picture as well as
other pictures. Also, I'm not fond of P81's deflector dish anymore; It looks more, "fake", so to speak, when compared to the model, almost like a blue paper plate rather than a blue glow to a clear dish that I remember the Constitution-class (
refit)'s deflector dish as. I'm also if-iffy on the Intermix Shafts (
that blue line on the inner-sides of the warp nacelle pylons?), wondering (
when looking at the pictures) if it's supposed to be prominent or not-so (
and if so, how much so).
However, those are just minor griefs. I really like what you did to the textures. When it's properly lit in-game (
your fourth, fifth, and eighth screenshot), it looks very impressive, almost as if it was really metallic, that the model was made out of tritanium. The illumination maps you gave it are also nicely done.
I remember Khaliban stating that he based his model on the actual Enterprise model and the textures on it from the actual studio model of the Enterprise-A, and I really liked what he had done with it, and still like his textures even after seeing your model.
But you give this model life when you actually make it more metallic-looking, it almost looks as if I were looking at an actual photograph of the Yorktown if she was a starship that appeared in real life. That illustrates how good it is,
regardless of any nitpicks of mine that I have with it. It still stands out to be one of the best retextures I've ever seen.
Excellent work.
I have a question, though. Do you have any "blank" textures (
as in without
the name and registry decals)? I'd like to have a shot at creating a name and registry decal with what I have on that retexture, if you allow. If no, then that's alright, I don't mind. *shrug* But if yes, I thank you and it would be appreciated.
