Andromedan Starbase retexture/Biobase lighting request

 ;D Okay, I discovered tonight that the Biobase needs to be lit up.

Now, while tinkering with the Biobase textures I decided to try Wicked Zombie's Andromedan Annihilator textures on this cool base. I think it turned out really cool and I like the version with the spires best now we just need to have it lit up.

I count 7 power absorption panels on on the top spire and six on the underside. As for no hangar doors for ships, the Andromedans can displace ships in SFB and they may not veiw redundant hangar doors as absolutely necessary. Additionally, the main dome is not a biodome a la a human agroculture dome or a Lyran/Kzinti hunting park. IIRC, the Andromedan forces sent against the SFB races were primarily robots.

Trust me when this base is lit up this particular retexture of the Biobase is going to look MUCH better...

 ;D This base STILL really needs to be lit up for SFC2/OP/3 to exploit its full potential as a COOL base. There are way too few cool bases out there....

I had a strange thought.

From Desty Nova's SFB site:

"While exploring the two Megallanic clouds, after "Operation Unity", galactic forces discovered the uncompleted hull of what would have been the largest Andromedan ship ever seen. Over 50% completed, it is unclear exactly how long it would have taken them to complete it. The materials for a second ship of this class were discovered in another nearby facility."

What happened to the Andromedan starbase that was constructing the Andromedan battleship? And the materials for the second Battleship?

Now, before the SFB gurus flame me to death about the Andros usually self destruct or how it would break up the galactic alliance I'll admit that it's not 100% well thought out yet.

The alliance of galactic forces could've opted to tow the remains of the starbase to a more defensible location say near FASA Trek's the triangle region (closest to Federation territory) that neutral region between the big three powers. The Romulan and Klingon navies are pretty near exhausted and the Federation is only slightly in better shape; perhaps the Romulans and Klingons would agree to allow it to gt towed into/near Federation in the event that the Andromedan warp hub network became reactivated and a second Andromedan Invasion happened. Klingon and Romulan threat analysis might have estimated it would be enough to break the back of the Federation. The Feds for their part expected to gain a significant tech boost for doing this but don't want it too near the core worlds in case something goes catastrophically wrong and keeping the base in its present location could make it indefensible. Pirates and neutral races wouldn't necessarily have the technical resources to exploit such a well guarded prize or unweildly prize. Where would you hide it? Finally, what if the diplomats decided that this was to be a late TMP era "Unity Station" a la SFC3 but aimed at protecting the galactic powers from the Andromedans?

Having written all this, I am posting my TMP era screen shots of this base as a substitute for DS9 in Centauri Vaughn's "Into The Dominion" Skirmish script.

Which textures from the package are the ones that are supposed to get lit up? its kind of hard to tell :P

Ya, that's what I've been trying to figure out, what part of the textures do you want lit.  All of the textures in the .zip are used, Mack, if that's what your question is.  The whitealpha and blackalpha are the lightmaps, those are what need to be fixed, but I'm not sure what parts of the model should be lit.

Not having your textures, I cooked up some of my own from WZ's Annihilator to get something close.  Here's the fixed .MOD file with illumination support and the sample illums that I included so that you have the correct filenames..
